So, y'alls know the drill, new Stellaris expansion means reinstall and play a new campaign. Maybe if I try being a militant asshole I can finally finish a game for onc-

I actually managed to get back before he wrecked TOO MUCH of my Empire and even started making some headway against the doomstacks, but then I found out that every time his forces captured a system, even a puny ~200 strength outpost one, it would INSTANTLY be replaced with some 4.6k monstrosity out of nowhere. So yeah, I just loaded a previous autosave lol.

Khan hasn't showed up yet but I have a nice surprise for him when he does.

Update nobody cares to read: The Khan didn't end up spawning after all. Instead, as I was moving around my fleets and fortifying around marauder space, some other idiot opened the L-Gates and boom here comes the Grey Tempest. And somehow the ONLY empires with L-Gates (besides the two in my territory) were the ones allied to me and the one independent idiot who opened them (who is safe from invasion for the first ten years).

Anyway, tempest shoals made a mess of a big swathe of my territories before I could contain them (crashing my economy in the process), they did much worse to my allies who didn't have the fed fleet to protect themselves, everyone voted against making the Tempest a Galactic Focus because of course they did, and I just barely managed to beat back the invasion after losing all my fleets twice trying to push into the Tempest home system.

And then I had to load an autosave two years back because while I was fighting some asshole with closed borders to me managed to claim the Terminal Egress system, blocking off my reinforcements. And I couldn't just go to war with him because my beaten up allies just voted no.
