I went back to playing Vicky Revolutions instead of 2 since I had reformat of the system, and left my copy of 2 at home. I cannot do screenshots however because printscreen key does not work. Few keys actually failed too, like F12, so I keep track of badboy in the head now. Fortunately I can type everything, so I won't buy a keyboard now.
I'll only say I researched Machine Guns and Nationalism & Imperialism few years before other Great Powers, as Brazil, gobbled up Paraguay and Uruguay, and already colonized South Nigeria, Cameroon, Rooktown, Accra and Namibia. It's 1882, and Brazil can become third largest colonial power. When I run out of Africans to civilize, I will probably buy some land from other powers, or bully Portugal into giving up their colonies. I plan to make Brazil American power second only to USA.
As for rankings:
8th in national ranking, so a GP
1st in Prestige (Germany did not form because Frenchies beat Prussia and so Prussians did not get tons of prestige. North German Federation is French satellite.)
12th in Industry (My wood and clothing industry is stronk.)
6th in Military (partly thanks to French and South German soldiers who immigrated a lot to Rio De Janeiro)
My Navy sucks though, I neglected the research in favor of colonization techs, but I don't plan to take on France or England.
United Kingdom is somewhat weakened in the game because of epic 10 year war against USA. Canada did not form because it is now Murrican. Instead UK has Finland, Latvia and Estonia as their resident cold climate possessions.
Italy annexed Switzerland.

The most OP strategy in Vicky 2 is playing as Germany, agitating the shit out of your population early and passing as many Healthcare reforms as you can when the Springtime of Nations happens. If you get all four, and get lucky with the medicine inventions and then unify Germany pre-1850, you can reach 100 M pops by end-game, utterly breaking the game in half.
My friend kneeled on his game disk while he was cleaning his car and snapped the disk in half. All the more reason to pirate games i guess.
He might be a strategical genius, sub-consciously.

In Vicky II I imagine they are pretty hopeless, considering the French will inevitably destroy you without mercy.

EUIV: You gotta westernize early as possible. Ming is the big playa in the area to start with, and will probably come and vassalize you.

I seem to recall doing OK with them in a V2 game. Would need to get a bit of luck but IIRC the V2 AI isn't great about concentrating on Asia?
