Hype backlash, certainly, but there's more to it than that. The long-awaited Emiya remix was too subdued, like all of the voices. Seriously, what was up with the voices? Everyone was too quiet and too emotionless, especially poor Shirou and his monologues; Gil!Miyu was the only blessed exception, though Sakura certainly tried her best. Shirou's Nine Lives being effectively cut was tragic, and the music used before Emiya was completely unmemorable. As for the big action piece with Shirou and later Kuro vs. Angelica, I could see what Silver Link wanted to accomplish, but the execution was just. Not. There.
The off model faces, the light beams instead of weapons, the lack of detail on the weapons - I understand that manga has more leeway for some things, but the anime really failed to capitalize on what could've been strengths. It was mediocre all the way through.
At least Sakura's delivery was great, even if the animation for her skirmish was also lackluster. Then there was Illya and Kuro against the Unheroic Spirit horde, and hoo boy was there some budget-saving there. Kuro didn't even get stabbed in the leg; the dwarf just sort of waved its little hand and Kuro winced. Silver Link must've blown their budget in the first fight where Illya Installed Caster.
Overall, mediocre and lackluster. I guess Hiroyama did too good of a job for the anime to live up to, and I'm truly disappointed. At this rate, I don't know what's going to happen to the Shirou Chronicles (they probably won't be animated at all).

Oh right, Gil was good, though I'm still not on board with his hysterical laughter. I should stop judging it against Tomokazu Seki's hysterical laughter, but it's difficult not to.

The same thing (delayed subs) happened with the last episode of 2wei Herz. Is this a pattern? If the subs are delayed, brace yourself for some kind of disappointment?

Well, just watched, expected worse. It was really bad, sure, but that goes for the rest of SL's 3rei as well.
CR's translation lacks heart. Pai's translation had heart, or at least it sounds better.
Didn't CR just copy the engrish that Archer says for his mantra and call it a day on the japanese that Rin was saying during the dream sequence?
The official subs also had the bit where they translated Shirou's "my body is made of swords" as "steel is my body."
Localizationing stuff
As I recall, CrunchyRoll's subs for episode 10 of the UBW anime originally featured a literal translation of the chant.
Naturally, the fandom got on their cases; and the Engrish version was utilized henceforth... including Prillya, so it seems.

It's funny that we had people saying how SL is the only competent studio out of all the TM adaptations and once Prisma finally hits what makes it a worthy fate title (debatable, I don't consider it as one but I know a lot of people do), they bail out and barely manage to get an episode done.
I'll rewatch the episode soon with my brother, I'm looking forward to Sakura spinning that pole in QUALITY style.

Have they improved anything before? The only thing I heard is how they removed some steam from the bath scenes. Anything else?
There are some scenes they changed in the BD version of Saber Alter's fight in the first season. But really, this whole episode just screams "it'll be better in the BDs!".
Wait, I just checked the subs and they used cur instead of mongrel. Sasuga crunchy.

I wish they had done a bit more justice to Sakura but just hearing her voice hyped me up, sigh. My standards for Sakura content is too low.
