"Had it only ended at the third, someone had said."
Because people have actually said that about Star Wars.

...Is that what he meant, because what he wrote was this:
I tried wrapping my mind around how that made any sense.First let people create shit out of nothing (well possibly; the second to fifth are also apparently results of not quite getting the first), the second opened up possibilities, the third showed what direction we should be going in to make everyone happy (it gave hope), and the fifth only seems to make everything worse.
Oh fuck the forum ate the rest of my edit. Ok screw it I'm not going to replicate it all.
I have no idea what he was saying there, but that's my best guess. And that line is a better prelude to a Star Wars analogy, anyway.
That's kind of what I meant.

What are you saying. Arai is Nasu. That is a open secret.
Hmm; it sounds like the reason why Magics are so dangerous is because they do the impossible in the first place. Kinda like how in a dictatorship when someone suddenly discovers one of the secrets behind the system they'll be considered dangerous too, since that will lead to other people trying to get more secrets about the system and spreading said secrets until everyone has it and knows how to use it, or those that found the way out of that system uses it to threaten those in power.
...okay, that was pretty awkward...umm, ah:
Say Akasha's an information network, Alaya's the security forces, and Gaia's the dictatorship in question.
Aoko finds a master code for an independent nuclear arsenal through Akasha, and Alaya finds out. It becomes a race against time to retrieve the codes before the news reaches Gaia and she does something extreme like wiping out Aoko's home town in order to make sure no one else from the area can use those same codes. Each time Aoko uses it, Alaya can trace it and then deploy their people in the area before Gaia does.
At least that's what it looks like to me *shrugs*

Truth
It sounds more like an error in a piece of software to me. Like divide by zero.
You know. Does it count as Magic if you delete all record that something ever existed? This would include deleting from your own memory as well... Ah, hang on. This changes the past. Second Magic.
... Zeezus. The Second is so hax. Infinity, change, and possibility huh... The only thing missing from there is eternity which was what they were aiming for in Melty Blood with the Sixth.

BTW, some 2ch anons tried to speculate Alice's connection with First Magic.
Though I think that discussion is short-lived and doesn't really go anywhere.
Also, they've now gone through a period of time where any posts that mentions Alice's name would have 20% possibility of the word "kawaii" tagging along.

Alice's witchcraft reminds me more of Merem's demonition.
Speaking of Alice, I don't think I've heard what exactly the deal with her is, or what Flat Snark or Crown Phantasm are.
I gather it's kind of like how Tatari takes people's nightmares and turns them into reality. Alice's ploy kickshaws share the nature of their respective tales and these are drawn upon as the basis of her magecraft. e.g. The Great Bridge - a massive edifice built of wood and stone, used as a ploy by Alice to quickly create a massive golem. Who Killed Cock Robin - Used to make it seem as if she was killed. Flat Snark - Snark, related to Jabberwocky. An 'inconceivable creature', which can make you 'softly and suddenly vanish away, and never be met with again' in some cases or drive you insane, and numerous other qualities. Basically the Ultimate Monster of folk tales. Which is probably why it's called Crown Phantasm.

Thanks for the info Alyeris. Sounds pretty awesome.
Could you tell me what exactly she does during Mahoyo though? I've heard some conflicting reports. One person said she was just observing the whole incident, and another dude said she was working with Touko somehow, so I really don't understand what exactly she was doing.
? She's pretty active. At first she takes an observer role as she waits for Aoko to sort out her mess, but in the background she is actually dealing with some intruders who have been hired by Touko (she does this without Aoko's knowledge, I think). She actively steps in for the first time when Aoko decides to let Sojurou go for now at the Amusement park, and tells Aoko that if she can make it out of the park with Sojurou she can do as she wants, but that she will try to stop them. She releases the Flat Snark which turns the amusement park into a living horror, and later releases Humpty Dumpty as well. However she loses when Aoko BLOWS UP THE (FALSE) MOON. She doesn't completely give up though, and tells Aoko that she does not recognise Sojurou's right to escape what should have been his fate. Sojurou however manages to win her over bit by bit, and ultimately makes her an ally during the first round of battles with Touko (where Alice actually completely overwhelms Touko - Scary girl - before Leo Beo with his CHEAT magic defence steps in and nearly kills her) when he comes to save her from death at the hands of a pack of wild dogs. From here on she takes a support role to Aoko until the end of the novel.

Aoko put a curse on her at the end of Mahoyo. Touko would be turned into a frog if she came back. In the extra story however we learn that she dispelled it within a few months. Nothing major.
Not aware of Alice cursing her, but I might have missed or forgotten that.
