I don't know if it would be against the tone of the scene, but it seemed to me like the action was almost like... ehh, how to explain this, like it had predetermined results? As in, when picturing the scene, it was a little bit like I was watching something that had happened already? I think that was probably the tone of it. The action was quick, precise and instant, but sacrificed a little bit of fluidity because you weren't describing it like he was slashing and cutting right in front of our eyes.
It worked though. :P
