Background
Sixty years ago in faraway Japan, the magi of three families, under the supervision of the Second Magician Kaleidoscope, came together to conduct a ritual of rare power. This ritual brought into this world a great object known as the Holy Grail.
It is an omnipotent wish-granting device, an artifact that replicates true magic. It is capable of granting any one wish in this world, but only one. With one wish that could not be shared, the three families split and fought for the right to make that wish, and the opportunity to make that wish was lost.
After a slumber of over half a century, the Holy Grail has awakened and seeks to fulfill its purpose. It has chosen those who will be given the right to fight to make their wish, those who created it and those who truly need.
In order to truly bring forth the Holy Grail, it requires seven magi. Even so, a wish cannot be granted based on the strength of such puny souls. In order to grant any wish, the Holy Grail requires a greater fuel, something that embodies the hopes and dreams of humanity. That fuel would be Heroic Spirits.
To fill the Holy Grail, six Heroic Spirits must be sacrificed. These are summoned by the chosen magi, who become the Master of the Heroic Spirit, a familiar similar to a Ghost Liner. The familiar, a Servant, joins forces with the Master to seek the miracle.
Seven Masters have been chosen, their hands marked with the holy symbol. The ritual is known. The Servants will be summoned. The Second Holy Grail War will begin.
Seek the miracle.
Mechanics
This RP will focus around the Second War. As such, it will involve some canon restrictions and other innovations to keep things interesting.
To make certain the game does not drag out, it will be played over a total of 15 weeks. The first week will be spent summoning the Servants and getting the Masters and Servants acquainted with each other while establishing their characters. Each week after that will be one “day” in the Holy Grail War. This should encourage a quick, violent pace.
To maintain the operation of chaos, several other innovations. The identities of the Servants have been pre-decided, so players who chose to be Servants will be actors based on their legend. Masters and Servants will be matched based on the order of who registers as a Master. Masters and Servants must best figure out how to utilize each other in battle. Only Master and Servant will know their Noble Phantasms, until they decide to use them.
Second is the “flag” system, where events will trigger randomly. These include deaths of Servants or Masters, as well as unfortunate accidents and ambushes. Flags will begin to be triggered after the third “day.” Flags will be decided by random chance, like dice, tarot cards, and random number generators.
Lastly, to maintain impartiality, I will not play, either as a Master or a Servant. I will merely be the “flag” system.
Some Servants will enjoy secret abilities. I will confirm those abilities revealed in battle and will deny any that do not exist.
Once you have become a Master, please post a profile as to vital stats, your past, the nature of your magecraft, and the wish you seek from the Grail.
It would be a shame for the game to disappear at its conclusion. With the permission of the RPers, I will compile and edit everything into a novelization, to be posted here and on FF.net. So remember, the more you post, the more likely your character will be (one of) the central hero(es) of the piece (and the more likely you'll be to get top billing as writer)!
Finally.... fight as you wish, love as you wish, hate as you wish, kill as you can. Lavish upon us a tale of battle and hatred. Show us how true magi fight.
