Some could get difficult since their fighting styles would probably be really similar to already existing characters; Barrett's style would prolly get too similar to Laguna's, and Rydia'd probably be too similar to Yuna.

Playing FFXIII since it was on sale a last weekend. Haven't had much to complain about other than that I can't modify my party lineup at this point in time. Still looking into how item upgrading works, then need to decide which items, if any, I should just vendor.

Dear lord you're actually playing the postgame, I took a look at the pain that is the teleport system and walking everywhere and decided I was fine then.

The teleport system's something I disapprove of in principle, since it's a convenience feature locked behind sidequests (a couple of which are nasty), but I grabbed the teleport Stones on my way through the game proper and their coverage is better than it looks. With that plus a bit of Chocobo riding, most places I want to get are pretty easily in reach.

From the little I've looked into the upgrading stuff, it's mostly use organic material to boost your experience rate gain, then unload a ton of one mechanical item for a big boost. Questions now are:

1. If I give an item more points than necessary to level, do these points get applied to the following level or lost for good?
2. Any reason to focus on upgrading the really cheap accessories?

Basically just pick one thing for each slot that you'll use then max it. There's no point in alternating what you put points into.

I dunno about 1 since I didn't put much attention into it while I played XIII. Just check online, I'm pretty sure there are guides about the upgrade system.

I honestly have no clue why they went with that system for XIII. At least LR got rid of it for something simpler.

Speaking of LR, I'm currently on NG+. Fighting bosses that took a long time to beat in my first playthrough with a nearly maxed out Excalibur is really fun.
