Yeah that's the one. It was only on Japanese flip phones like 15 years ago and never got a translation. All that's left of it are low quality youtube videos, so it's the biggest reason to be excited for Ever Crisis, imo.
What's the verdict on Square leaving the original voice actors in? I mean, I like nearly all of the new ones more, especially Aerith's, but Sephiroth, Zack and Reno need their original VAs back. Robbie Daymond didn't nail every line, but we laughed with him, we cried with him, and the finale of Crisis Core had me in tears. And Sephiroth being voiced by anyone other than George Newbern is just heresy.

I'll just put my reaction I had on Maximilian Dood's vid here:
I don't know what is going on at Squeenix HQ, but someone continue providing them the drugs and or hookers they have been gifted.Square is having this big resurgence of fuck you energy right now.
"You want team up techniques? Fuck you, we'll give you that and an entire story behind it. You wanted turn-based? Well fuck you for disliking our want to evolve combat, but here you go anyway. You hated Dirge and were lukewarm about Crisis Core? Fuck you, we'll bring it back and make it better. You want lore? Fuck you, here is all the lore that you can swallow and I hope you choke on it."
Lots of FUCK YOU energy from Square. I hope they continue to tell us to fuck ourselves.
Uhhh.... from what I saw I'm imagining that it's telling the entire story of the compilation in chapters in a single engine.
So no voices. Probably not roaming at all - just chapter by chapter of what the team deem as relevant parts of the story?
At least Before Crisis will be notable. Playable Advent Children will be an interesting interlude. But given the scope of what there is to see... it feels like a recap of Dirge and Crisis in that mobile engine. Hardly making it better.
Also apart from the above - the FFVII Battle Royale. Not that positive reception compared to the other two XD
BEHOLD! THE SIG OF GOLDEN TRUTH! Pillaged from McJon, Tsukikan et al.
Yeah, I found my white whale finally (and at retail price no less)but I feel for those who have not or can't.
Fortunately, its gotten so bad with scalpers not only buying them up, but now that people have figured out how to mine crypto-currency with it, looks like even the various governments are looking to stamp out the scalp, if only because it takes away resources from other ventures.
Make no mistake, its likely lobbying for car manufacturers that need those parts that consoles also need that pushed any help to come down the road. But at least things are looking up, so I'll take it.
Played the remake since it was free.
the good: was fun. Liked the fighting mechanics, mostly. Aerith was actually likeable. Loved some of the action cut scenes. Liked red 13
neutral: game felt short, but it was free so eh. Would have been a negative if it wasn’t a freebie. And that’s despite the fact the game was clearly trying to add some fake longevity with random fetch/find quests and chapter select mode. Could have used more places to pick an interaction or something to say.
bad: the weird meta story felt like the VG version of Oscar bait. Plot line approached tedium in some places where it seemed like they were trying to thread a needle between increased character perspective and finding ways to make you double back through previous areas, again likely for time padding (btw I finished all but like one of the side quests and arena fights) tifa was a bit weak (in story, in gameplay slap an element materia on her and watch her go insane)
I don't understand. Did he have some sort of raging meltdown over Square Enix doing things that he claims that everyone's going to hate them for, but everything he mentioned as being horrible were actually exactly the things that fans had been begging for?

How did you get it for free?!
Yeah, Briana White's performance as Aerith was just incredible. She's been voiced by five people in English, (including Mandy Moore, shockingly), and none of them have ever managed to really make her shine the way she's meant to. And here's this no-name VA who hits the ball out of the park.
As for Tifa, that was probably intentional. At his point in the story, she's still being cagey and walking on eggshells because she's worried that confronting Cloud about the discrepancies in their memories will drive him away, and as the one person from home who's still alive, even the faintest risk of that terrifies her.

Yeah that. Wasn’t gonna pay money for it but if it’s free I’ll give it a shot
Here is hoping, I’m worried they are going to have her as just that seemingly tough girl who is actually broken and going through an existential crisis for the rest of the series
Tifa is broken, though. She watched a guy who was nice, if a bit detached, go completely insane, burn her whole town to ashes and murder everyone she knew. Sephiroth even killed her dad right in front of her.
That said, her existential crisis doesn't last the whole game. (Only A Spoiler if you don't know the whole story of FFVII)

Tifa had her good moments, but Midgar portion of the game is definitely not where she shines even in the original.
Even in the original, she definitely always seemed really hesitant and hiding a lot. I'd expect they'll give more of that in the later parts
That said, the dynamic with Aerith highlighted even better than the original how fast they got on as friends, so that was good of the remake to do.
@Draconic, that was me being hyperbolic, but Square knows some peeps won't ever be happy with their evolution of the battle system and other things that "break nostalgia", so them making a chibi version of FF7 seemed like a "fuck it, here you go, now shut up" move. The other parts was me being silly about them adding everything people want, lol.

I have been betrayed, backstabbed, and quite possibly bamboozled.
Dang it for making me buy PS4 and buying the game at full price only for them to choke this game on PS5 mere months after and making the game free.
Well, that's it for me being hooked on the nostalgia. Never again would I buy a game for the nostalgia.
...
*buys DOA 5 Last Round*
In all seriousness though, they should have thought of this when making the game. It's better for them to wait few more years for a powerful console then release it on that console.
Don't put up a game on a PS4 console just because you don't want to let PS4 players down, then put the part 2 on PS5 just to mess with us even more.
Make up your mind, Squeenix. Your games are great, but I think you should invest more on fixing the viable schedules of release of games.

Lol. Are you really implying Square didn't know exactly what they were doing when the announced part 2 for PS5 so fans would double dip and buy part 1 again in the new console.
Or that they could afford to delay it another year without getting lynched by their fans.

They knew what they were doing, and that's why I tell them to take a risk in developing that game for a new console instead of releasing it immediately just for double dips.
Just because their Avengers game didn't make any money, it doesn't mean that they should take it all out on a franchise to make money back.
The "fallback is always Final Fantasy" tactic is really getting old these days. Parasite Eve, NieR, Avengers. I'm believing that the word "nostalgia" is not even in their dictionary when they made this game.
