Honestly I feel like if they wanted to make them suffer more they wouldn't limit it to a few extra scenes.
They would go the Tomino route and make a whole new show about it.

Everyone likes to meme on Zeta and Tomino for being depressing, but IBO ends so much worse. Kamille ends up in coma and Emma and Katz die, but their side still wins and both genocidal groups are defeated. IBO ends with everyone dying and then the villains just going "yeah, they had good ideas, let's just do that. Too bad we had to kill so many children before we realized, lol."

I heard Tekkadan was inspired by Shinsengumi, if true they're doomed from beginning.
I mean I do kind of understand why people don't like how IBO did things, but I always thought that was the point.
Tekkadan never had a chance, really. They were raised to kill, made a living by killing and it stands to reason that they would be killed themselves. They had plenty of chances to back away, but Orga kept pushing them forward. This makes sense because they knew what kind of world they lived in and because they wanted all of their fallen comrades to not die in vain, but it fucked them over in the end. They got way in over their heads and ran out of luck. Tekkadan were, in the end, just a cog in the machine of the war economy. They never had a chance of being happy, because ultimately they couldn't get away from the battlefield.
I'm not saying it's not good. Only that's it's depressing as fuck.
It gets big props for that ending actually making me care enough to be angry at it, after how boring that base defence arc they started S2 with just kept dragging on.

yea true.
I don't mind that Tekkadan died in the end but I didn't like the whole "villains just going "yeah, they had good ideas, let's just do that. Too bad we had to kill so many children before we realized, lol."".
I would have liked it if them losing had made the world a worse place so that the fight had bigger consequences.
Plus I think the way they went out was kind of lame. The Dainsleif were imo boring weapons, I'd have rather them been killed by the villains using an army of those killer robots.

The last episode and the ones before it took so much out of me for a few days. I really loved them, and I loved rooting for them. And whenever I see that writer's name I just get so mad.
If the Seed and 00 special editions got new scenes, I don't see why this wouldn't.

Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Anime Reveals Staff, Story, Characters, Mecha
So this definitely isn't the UC timeline. AS timeline, huh? They didn't really mention what the main conflict is gonna be, so I'm curious about that.
Character designs are definitely on the more stylised side of things, which I know a lot of people won't like, but I personally don't mind them.
Mech designs are really IBO-ish. I like it when they look weird and out there like these ones.
Generally I'm interested in what they've shown so far but I'll hold of on judgement until the preview when we see what the tone and writing are gonna be like.
Hmm, rather then a direct war between Earth and the Colonies, it sounds more like an arms race between corporations that will likely spiral out of control. The designs look fresh and very much not UC so I'm on board.
I'm cautiously optimistic and will check it out.

I'm even more excited for the new anime now, I like those mobile suit designs.
Spoiler:
I'm getting a bit of a Three Houses vibe from those character descriptions. All heirs of big corpos attending one school together and the talented free agent who shows up out of nowhere. Oh, and one guy's name is just Cruel Jerk.
I like the mechs here, too. The Ariel reminds me a lot of the Turn A. I like how Jerk's mech is kind of squashed buy has that massive headpiece and feather/pompador on it. The black one gives off big IBO vibes. and the White one looks almost like an Ultraman character. It's a nice variety and shows how all are from different groups with different build styles. Or at least I hope that's what going on.

PV for the Gunpla of the Gundam Aerial from the upcoming Mercury anime.
Probably the most intriguing thing to me would be the potential Funnel-esque things we saw for a split second. Some kind of Alternate version of Newtypes maybe?

It looks really good in motion. My biggest worry now is that the show will be all style no substance.

Spoiler:
I'm pretty surprised that Zeta is that much lower than OG on both. I totally see Wing being America's SEED though. Thunderbolt and Hathaway too.
Bit sad there's no Turn A on there.
I would have figured G-Reco would show up too, since they went to the trouble of making those movies recently.
