I also found this very interesting and wouldn't mind a continuation of this. I was hoping for a story like this to pop up, after seeing the one where Alter raised Shirou. So this makes me pretty happy.
I liked it, but...
This...this honestly doesn't seem like Alter at all. More like "all butt-hurt, no action" Arturia. And too sentimental and caring.

Don't forget that even after blackening, she retained a bit of her old personality, so it's not that odd (especially with the lack of Sakura taking a dump in her head and making her mad).
Her hate was all focused towards Kiritsugu in this instance. Shirou was just a pleasant surprise that she discovered in her want to make Kiritsugu miserable.

Dark Saber had plenty of feelings, and was still the old Saber. The only difference is that she gave in to her despair and basically embraced the fact that a hero is someone who is hated (their role is to do what's necessary even if it's terrible). She still had a soft spot for Shirou even when she was dark in HF.

Oh, one last thing. Kiritsugu definitely didn't know, or care about the Root. He wouldn't have ordered Saber to commit suicide. All he cared about was getting his wish.

But the Einzbern's did care about getting the Third Magic, which needed the complete Grail. Which is what he was doing for them.

There was a note somewhere about them forgetting about the Third and how the Tohsakas were the only ones to remember the original purpose and just wanting the grail at any cost IIRC.

It's not that they forgot about it, like, literally, it left their head, but by the time Kiritsugu is prepping for the 4th HF they've lost sight of that as their primary goal and more and more want to win for the sake of winning. To erase their failure with the Avenger debacle. They still want the Third, it just, you know, is kind of becoming like how Zouken: immortality >>>>>>>>>> for Justica!

The Einzberns became obsessed and pulled a Zouken, they just wanted to win for the sake of it. But even so, if Kiritsugu would have a chance to make a wish, that would mean Saber would as well. So she might have to gank herself, but not before getting a wish.
