Lance Striker is great for Evade Lancing.

Lance Adept is amazing for Counterattacking.

Literally no Reason to use Guild at all since the drawbacks from each aren't terrible.

Greatsword Guild is still strong, Adept is Fun. I don't really wanna spam Arts in exchange for my Charges, and Aerial is pretty spammy with the Aerials.

Also my Nintendo ID got linked so if I have you already hmu, otherwise I need to finish redownloading my software before I can see my FC atm.

A lot of the Moga guys show up when you hit 2* village and all the 4U caravan guys show up when you hit 3* village

I still only play 3U. 600+ hours and I'm still f***ing terrified of Deviljhos.

I should really just be glad it's not an Abiorugu…

As for my weapon preference… I'm a jack of all trades, but a master of none. Though I'm good with a switch-axe or a longsword I suppose. But I always forget to block with lances and greatswords.

And talk about a series with consistently breathtaking soundtracks. Every piece of music written for Monster hunter has been brilliant. In my opinion. There are songs that are less good, but none that aren't good.

So last night I tried a guild quest, lagombi, with aerial hammer (first time using the style). Got my ass handed to me. Slide did 50% of my health per hit. Are guild quests substantially harder than village or do I just need to git gud?

also, gotta say I don't like some of the new areas (new for someone who only played 3u/4u). Tiny areas, no real place to fight big monsters. I especially don't like Arctic drift.

Yeah, I meant doing more damage tho. But it's probably because I'm still in starting armor.

I'm pretty sure that online/multiplayer monsters have 1.5x health and attack power.

They have around doubled health(specifics depend on the individual quest, since all quests have their own HP modifiers) and somewhat increased damage. I don't know how big the damage increase is though.

The two tranq bombs saved the day by ending the mission right as the second monster showed up and the other two were snowballed in.

That was clutch if anything ever was.

Wait, a Lagombi was giving you trouble? I'd say that was pathetic, but on the other hand, I only stopped being useless against them once I got my ML001 Baltzenger (if you haven't played 3U, it's the Brainfox, but 3.5x better. It's my favorite weapon EVER!) Then I tried Salamanders (Dual Swords) and those worked too. Then I tried Dancing Flames and was killed by a Popo while running away because I cannot use a longsword on something that will attack me in quick succession. Not my finest moment.

That, and I still can't even handle a pair of G Rank Azuros.

Yes. That's after 600+ hours. I am really bad at this game.

Less ranks is a good thing in my book imo, less variations of the same materials to grind off of banhabras

I agree wholeheartedly. I do NOT want to have to make my fabulous bee-based tuxedo third time just because the the game wants me to. Stupid limited number of poisoned arrows.
And yes, that is what I use Bnahabra materials for. And I wear it while fighting Raths. Despite the serious dangers of using such an armor set against a monster with fire attacks.

So I picked up this game and immediately started with Adept Longsword... In terms of difficulty that was not the best idea, Adept Longsword is super bad on the early monsters, they're too damn small to hit reliably with the evade slash.

Having persisted with it and hit 3* it has become a lot easier because the monsters are slowly getting bigger.
