There's an inherent sexuality to the content and context of Tsukihime, and if you take that away, it won't -- necessarily -- be the worse for it, since you can write things that are still suggestive of the intrinsic themes, but you'd be utterly wrong to say they aren't in service to each other and the story's big picture.

It's like 100% certain there will be no actual porn scenes in the remake anyway, the main question is will they rewrite the story to remove any sort of sexual/erotic elements entirely or will we have them still happen, just not explicitly shown/told to us in detail. Personally I'd really rather they didn't rewrite the entire thing to pretend it never had the rape and other sexual elements in it.

Looking at the subbed trailer, there's already a change. Kouma - if that character is still Kouma - apparently ganks Shiki outright. iirc Shiki's mother originally jumped in the way and got splattered.

I like migliole's thoughts on the approach to OPs. Just listening to voices. I think like the designs, Arcueid and Ciel are younger. The Tohno household doesn't sound too far off before.

Not so much of a problem with the old Tsukihime when world building aside of the present elements of the VN wasn't so deep so if something there is the need to deepen things.

There is, however, the need to reconcile with actual lore and update powerlevels. Remember when Hansa was even offended of the mere comparison of him even being near to the agents of the Burial Agency with him being basically shit in front of them? Well, there is the need of buff Ciel. Also Arcuied with the things that she has gained and lost with the years. Update the damn list of the DAAs. Can't be saved of get in the actual TM lore, as of now there is also Xian and vampires that are not DA. Who knows? maybe the actual Aylesbuty Ritual is a Fantasy Three-like thing.

More than that, the VN landscape of 2020's is wildly different from that of 2000's. Nowadays it's not just a market of "here's anime porn with choices", after stuff like Steins;Gate and what-not have come out. It's a market that has matured. It's a market where it's no longer necessary to dangle the option of sexy times with twin maids in order to draw the otaku to read your alien vampire princess WoD fanfiction.

Giving some thought to this, i don't really know if Nasu is the type of guy to go "either work is fine", or if he'd rather everyone view the new thing as the real one.

Besides that, if left to the fandom ig what will end up happening is that approach where everyone decides what's canon to them (like when some of us decide certain spin-offs are irrelevant to the originals)

Also, do we know if the remake changes stuff like the year the events take place in? I think that came up with Mahoyo at some point in development

I think it's fairly obvious TM don't want to do H scenes anymore. It just ain't their thing anymore. And that's been the case for... 15 years now? Unless I'm recalling wrong they haven't done anything H since FHA. And by 2007 they were already retconning the H scenes away from FSN. If they were "too much" for the PS2 they're gonna be "too much" for the PS4 and the Switch.

I'm not saying they weren't important in Tsukihime, but I honestly think it's a lost cause to humor the thought they'll be back. The market just isn't the same anymore. Alas, we will have to rely on H fan artists to... enjoy... the redesigned bodies of our Tsuki waifus.

I'd argue initially it was due to them, and nowadays it would be in spite of them, because it came out before the golden age of VNs really got going, and now VNs are as dead as a medium can be.

in 2021 there were two choices, one reboot it as PC nukige with a maximum of 15 minutes of reading between impregnating your maids, or to do an all ages release.
