I’m still never going to read the Kohaku route though. I know what happened to her, and I refuse to let reading about it in detail ruin my delusion of her as a comic relief character.

It's not, I've seen many people glorify the h-scenes for little bits of characterization, but it's still something that you can do with any other way of writing, to claim that they can't is absurd.
Still, it doesn't ruin everything, which is another exagerattion.

Yes, there's always those people who try to argue you cant remove an eroscene because the act of sex is important to the plot or characterization, which can be true (it rarely is) but theres really no reason that sexual act needs to be explicit pornography.

In the end, Nasu is a 40-something sarariman who likes playing videogames. He still likes writing (I assume) and he still writes content that's at least mildly entertaining. If he's satisfied with that, I ain't gonna be the one to kidnap him and strap him to an electric chair so he can channel the pain of his nerves frying into Mahoyo 2.

This, incidentally, is why I'm advocating against the removal of the H scenes; not because it can't be done, but because doing it in a way that faithfully preserves all the themes of the original is probably more effort than current era Nasu/Takeuchi/TM as a whole are probably willing to invest.

I think the fact this is actually happening at all proves Nasu still has something else he wants to do besides "writing content that's at least midly entertaining". The gacha game, with as relatively little effort it has put into it will still likely make more in a month than this remake will do in a year. While it may still be profitable, it's a bigger investment for a smaller return than the gacha. Yet this is still getting done. Nasu still has that spark in him. Let's believe in him. Shinjite.

Those opinions are absolutely clouded by nostalgia, and Tsukihime was a product of it's time and place. Nasu has changed since then, and Tsuki RE is being produced in a different time and place. With that in mind, change us inevitable and acceptable, either for newer fans or for Nasu himself.

Point out the part of what I said that has anything to do with nostalgia.

One of the things that I liked is how the "early-game" aspect of Tohno's MEODP is shown. In comparison to Ryougi's, as you know, at start she couldn't see the death of things she thought were already dead or couldn't have life, like concrete or a broken phone.
Tohno, on the other hand, right from the start, sees EVERYTHING breaking to pieces, just like it should.

---It's like the world on the Moon.
A wasteland where everything died off.
The seams of death on everything you see.
A world of phenomena that vanish when touched.

The remake will be a huge success and will make money, all at the same time with fgo making it's bux, it's not like nasu is giving something up to make this.

Really who knows on that front, it's possible most of the remake rewrites were done years ago. I doubt we will ever know the full story behind why it took so long and what happened there.

I expect the Remake to be very different to the original, and myself, I welcome that change with open arms.

The original work is dear to me, but it is complete the way it is, and I don't think I would have it any other way.

It will be far easier to embrace the new work if it tries to tread new ground.

I was generalizing when I said that, and it's not just you, and that's what appears to me, it's not specifically nostalgia, but some weird attachment to old works which devolves in something completely irrational about it.
imagine thinking that removing the H-scenes ruins everything, just because it's a change from the original, it's like they can't even think how something can be better or more interesting because Tsukihime ascended to astronomical proportions of godlike status that any touch in it is an heresy to perfection.

If you asked me 6-7 years ago whether I thought the remake having rewrites and removing the h-scenes automatically would ruin the remake I would have said no. Since then I've seen plenty of reasons to doubt the on going quality of TM works. For what I'd consider very rational reasons. I very much like tsukihime, but I do not consider it perfection or really even close to it. There are plenty of obvious places where it was rushed and where the writing isn't the best that could use a rewrite.

Essentially the issue isn't that i've put tsukihime on some pedestal due to nostalgia, but rather my opinion of TM has fallen so low I can't fathom how they could make it better.

I mean, if you don't trust current TM, you probably wouldn't trust them to do a straight remake either.

I'll disappear again when the remake fervor dies down, right now spewing pessimism, helps me reconcile why I don't feel happy about something I expected to be more happy about. That being said I expect my stone throwing won't be welcome then either.

Yeah, this. If (IF) you really need to put a sex in your story to make it work (and I strongly doubt this is true for Tsukihime), sex is not pornography (VERY BAD pornography, to boot).

That will depend on how they actually think about it and if they agree with you. It might actually genuinely suck. At least by then you will have concrete reasons to like/dislike it.

As for me I'm on Cloud 9 this is probably the happiest I've been for TM stuff. If it sucks I'll be disappointed, but for these months nothing can take this away from me.
