That is exactly how those I-don't-like-to-read people feel when Tolkien is describing a tree or any other very specific cultural aspect on LOTR. Put the movie OST and voilá, the experience is now more enjoyable.

Key is different because Maeda is not only the idea guy and main writer but also one of the main music composers, and he typically composes the music to all his climactic scenes himself. The music is a part of his vision, and a huge part of Keys brand. Key works are not as much about telling logically sound and interesting stories as theyre about simply delivering emotions, and the music is instrumental (hehe) in that.

I never watched the non-existent anime, but she does a good work in Prillya as Sapphire (technically not the same character, but she's supposed to be using her Hisui voice there).

So far I don't think we have any confirmation on whether the remake will have voice acting or not. Personally, I don't mind it either way.

If the remake DOES have voice acting, I hope they re-cast the folks from Carnival Phantasm/Melty Blood. Kohaku and Akiha's voices were absolutely on point.

tl;dr no, VNs are not simply books. That line of thinking is extremely naive. They're not only novels, they're visual novels.

But that's still not quite it, because of the sound. The best word would be 'multimedial novels', which sounds horrible because you associate 'multimedia' with movies, and VNs are shit at being movies.

I'd stick with Catdog Novel for now. Only when the medium evolves enough to also stimulate your prostate while reading will they be worthy of being called Art Novels.

Tbh, they've been willing to be a bit spicy since (CCC anyone?), and their main audience for a VN is going to be domestic, whete the stigma would be fairly light. It's not likely, imo, but not beyond belief, either.

its less that they arent allowed to do icky icky porny stuff, more that there is no point of locking yourself to the porn shelf when there is much more money and popularity to be made targeting a wider audience. Ero also locks you on PC, which is an unpopular platform in Japan. Get that shit on consoles and watch sales skyrocket. It worked wonders for Utawarerumono's sequel duology.

The only reason i personally want porn in it is because that would give me a remastered version of the sex scene music lmao

Odd, given that most VNs run fine on PC. On console, on the other hand, the text may be too small, depending on how far away you are sitting from the TV. Also, I was thinking per game, not per development studio.

I think that's because the original Fate/Stay Night VN is already an established work. Pretty much anyone familiar with their oeuvre knows they once made porn; as a result, reprinting the work as it originally was released is hardly a contentious move, in the sense that no one would say TM was going back to its "origins".

It really depends. I am not even talking about people berating them; you can be sure there would be a lot of pieces saying that Type-Moon has gone back to its origins as an eroge producer (many of them not even critical). That puts a particular label on a company, in the sense that many studios, producers, publishers etc. would simply not be willing to work with a brand that produces porn. Type-Moon is a "respectable" company nowadays, and I don't think it would be a good idea to jeopardize that by going back to making porn, especially when their games were not ever about that in the first place. Plus, as weeblord said, eroticism locks you on pc, which is less relevant in their main market.

The problem is not whether or not PC is a better platform for VNs. PC gaming is just not popular in Japan outside of porn games, and that's exactly because no console manufacturer wants to allow that kind of content on their product.
