After an amazing showing such as this they definitely deserve to have time polishing it.

I found a long comment chain on the /r/france subreddit of some dude claiming to be married to one of the animators. According to him (information he got from his wife, in this case) each episode had a budget in the figure of 10 million dollars. That's almost 100 dollars for the whole season. Other interesting tidbits: The show was rewritten constantly, which was large part in why it took so long to make. I think he said his wife was starting to get exasperated over how many times they'd have to re-animate something because of new writing directives (though obviously this seems to have paid off).
Some other animator made a similar remark. It's almost silly to compare Arcane to any other western animated series. It simply operates on a completely different budget level.
Personally, I actually prefer its style of animation over anything Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks has made over the last 20 years, and the only thing that even enters the same realm is Sony Pictures Imageworks with their work on Into the Spider-verse. But it's telling you have to compare this to movies, which actually do have comparable (probably greater) budgets.

I mean I've always enjoyed the style of animation Riot has used in their cinematics, so actually getting Arcane, which has a decent story on top of all that is beyond my wildest dreams. Really want to see how other Piltover/Zaun champs will be like if they get included in the next season (Warwick pls).
