As far as I've seen, people dislike the movie adaptations, not the comic story.
I went into a Giant store today, and I saw this tall cleaning robot with googly eyes glued on it just moving around. It had a paper taped to it that said it was gathering about spills and other cleaning things. It really surprised me.

So I’m heading out to my car to head home after a pretty rough day
and I see something shining around my car. Upon closer inspection I gathered up about twenty metal nails that had been scattered underneath my car. I don’t know if this represented just like some accident, like a construction guy parks nexts to me, drops a box and decides it’s not worth gathering them up
or if a crazy person tried to kill me. They were not like set up edge out, but there were enough around my tires that I would almost definitely have picked up at least one, plausibly had a blow out on the highway driving home.

If it makes you feel any better, you'd have blown your tire out in the parking lot rather than on the highway. Though probably all you'd get is a slow leak that takes weeks to find.
