I spent last week learning about a cult I became familiar with about a decade ago but never realised was a cult until extremely recently, and I gotta say........ this is sort of insulting towards the Atlas Institute and overly flattering towards the TESCREAL people, but I can't unsee the similarity.

Atlas's reasoning for developing things "that could destroy the world!!!!!" is honestly more sane. These people are mad cringe.

It has occurred to me that, Big Yud being the fan of TYPE MOON that he is, people within the movement have absolutely made this comparison themselves, albeit in a positive manner. What a weird thought.

That being said, now that LLMs that can use words real good are here, that guy and his faction want to nuke the data centres (and also at least half of humanity, shhh) in order to prevent the very real, very scawwy AI apocalypse that is 99.9% guaranteed to happen. Dunno how well the Atlas Institute comparison tracks with them, specifically.

It just occurred to me that there is nothing physically stopping me from just putting together a group of people and going to a con and setting up a stand to sell some stuff.

I'm seriously thinking about putting together an anthology or something with some friends. If we can figure out the logistics, it could be a fun way to get off the ground as writers.

The hardest part will be getting people to come over. Most of the time at cons artists will just plaster their booth with samples, but you can't really do that with the written word. A real nice piece of cover art you can blow up to banner size will go a long way.

If you did eventually do this, it’d be really cool if you were able to get a team together and make something like 4chan did with Katawa Shoujo, as that would definitely get more attention than just giving out doujins or something. Though frankly I have no idea how to “find people” who know how to build stuff like that…

Still, it’d be cool though, and after the success of stuff like Doki Doki Literature Club you’d probably be able to get some traction.

If you ever did do something like this I wouldn’t mind helping out with storyboarding/plot ideas and the like, though I’m still working on my writing skills…
