That, plus the fact that the school has inadequate amount of classrooms, means that there's usually some overlapping between different programmes. Hence me not going to this course's classes in favour of objectively more important language practicals.

I don't really understand how the test doesn't count and how you can take it again later, but it sounds like you can postpone it with no penalty or take it and suffer.

You usually get roughly 6-8 terms for taking an exam, evenly spread between winter ( Jan/Feb), summer ( Jun/Jul), and autumn ( Sep ) exam terms.
This whole 'average of each take' thing is bullshit and this professor is the only one doing it afaik. Otherwise you just get the grade of your last exam ( if you fail first time, then second time get a C, you get a C, not B or whatever ).
This term is the last one in this academic year, so if I don't pass the exam on Thursday I will have to wait till January to get it off my back, and possibly be forced to take the course all over again which would be a pain in the arse.

Ah, that's a tough one. So you have a D now, and if you take the test and fail, the F will drag you down further. On the other hand, you'll need something like a high C to just get you a C once it's averaged with the D. Probably a B. Which means in all likelyhood you will have to take the test again anyway next time but with extra baggage. What's the final grade you're shooting for?

I don't even know anymore. I just know that I'm not prepared and not in a state to take the exam, so I'm gonna postpone it for winter terms, come what may.
