Working to grade from a rubric is weird. I think it's probably the most fair method of grading, but when I get into a mode where I'm trying to do it, papers that I think are better on a surface level don't do as well as some others because of the areas in which they need work or didn't go the distance. Hmmm. Not sure if I just need better rubric design or if this is actually valid.
