A nozzle?The bump just emerging from the base of the spout. Here's a pic to show what I mean.

It's not a nozzle, since it doesn't open on the end. Actually, on the only watering can I've ever owned that had one of those, it had a thin, solid X-shaped cross section.
Here's the one and only picture I could find that gives it any sort of name:
Awkward though that be. On the one I had, since it was composed of literally just four flanges, I would probably have called the whole thing a flange, even though that's an even less adequate and accurate name.
