There was actually a case in my country where a former businessman turned politician actually did have a secret room in his villa and this got busted when he was investigated for corruption. His house was full of expensive (and unaccounted for) artwork and illegal hunting trophies, including a taxidermied polar bear. Gaslighting the rich using their own methods would be kind of poetic even.
