I just learned that Helen of Troy was actually a Spartan princess. I'd never heard that before in any of the myths. It's always about the war and never about her origins. I only stumbled across it because I was reading about Castor and Pollux and she was named as a sibling. Never knew she had a twin either.

She didn't? Castor and Pollux were twins (in fact, they're the Gemini constellation if memory serves). Helen was their little sister*.

*born from an egg queen Leda had after Zeus assaulted her as a swan.

Also, iirc, one of the twins was immortal and one was a mortal due to Zeus shenanigans again but I don't quite remember how that came to be.

Actually, checking Wikipedia, Helen and Pollux came from one egg and Clytemnestra and Castor from the other, and the two eggs were fathered by Zeus and Tyndareus respectively. There is no citation, though.

Well I've given up on trying to get a Founder's Edition 3060-Ti or 3070. My sister's Microcenter has an open box RX 6700XT for 410 USD so I'm going to just call it a day considering this is a GPU I'm only planning to use until the 40 Series comes out while still being good enough to be treated as a birthday/christmas gift for my sister this year.

Meanwhile, I finally finished my build and set it all up, except it turns out the monitor I'd ordered will have to wait 'till Monday, and the CPU cooler that didn't fit which the guy who sold me totally managed to fit after all... still doesn't fit properly, so my CPU runs at 70 C° when idle.
I swear, this computer is cursed.

Ended up getting a non-FE 3060-Ti because my sister took too long to place the reserve on that 6700XT, only for this same non-FE 3060-Ti to have an open box discount down to 430 USD discount that got claimed before she could cancel the 499 USD one she already reserved. Oh well, managed to save enough money between discounts on other parts that I can eat the upcharge.

New computer list here. Could have saved an additional 12 USD if I had picked the RAM when it was down to 100 USD and the motherboard now that it's 129.99 USD. At some point I might try and make the cords less of a nightmare in there by actually using zip-ties, but that's going to be after I get my GPU in. Could have also dropped to an i5-12600k for another 50 USD in savings compared to GPU but eh.

Now just to wait until the RTX 4070 gets released to upgrade to that and not have to worry about this for a decade.

Edit: Ignore the warning. For some reason, pcpartpicker doesn't recognize that I bought a LGA1700 adapter so that the heatsink would fit.

Arctic Freezer 7 X CO rev.3 on a Gigabyte Z690 UD AX.
PCpartpicker insisted that it wasn't compatible with LGA1700 sockets, which leads me to believe this was an older model cooler retooled to also fit newer sockets rather than a dedicated solution.
