And yeah between Canaan, Tsukihime and DEEN Fate, Canaan is the easy winner. It's a coherent story with good animation.

how do you even remember that, i barely remember anything from that long ago.

It's only been 15 years. Compared to stuff like Gundam Wing, Escaflowne or Digimon Adventure that were on TV when I was a kid that's nothing.

maybe i just have incredibly shit memory and am just projecting.

I have had people astonished that I remember even half the movies that I see. Maybe I just have a good memory for pointless things?

nah that's cool, it's fun seeing people being able to see references and the like better since they actually remember stuff.

I think it's also got to do with how often you think back to stuff.
Though yes, memories get that tidbit altered whenever you recall them, if you keep thinking back to them at least they'll keep being there instead of being eventually labeled as garbage data and discarded by your brain's garbage collector.
Of course significant enough stuff will stay there regardless, but "what happened in that anime I watched 20 years ago" is usually not deemed that important to be retained.

As an example, I got into One Piece some 12 years ago. I remember the big stuff from early arcs, yet when I watched the Live Action stuff I was convinced Kuro's stooges were original characters. But as it turns out they were in the manga and posed a bit of an obstacle. But because they were such a small part of an already small arc that I watched/read so long ago, they'd been effectively erased from my mind.
Ironically enough the one supporting villain from Syrup Village I do remember was Jango, and he got cut from the adaptation.

I'll remember detailed information about scenes from shows I watched when I was like 12 but ask me if I remember any details about Tsukihime and I'll blank you instantaneously. I really need to reread some of this stuff.

That would actually be a fun event for FGO. Malory shows up and each new chapter is learning how wrong he was about every knight.

I wonder if I should watch Canaan. I keep seeing it in the banner rotation but I have no idea if it's any good because nobody really talks about it. Which can only really mean it's too boring to say anything about.

It's pretty okay if you like pew pew action shows, but not really something you're missing out on for not seeing.
