Meanwhile, my mother decided to stay over. Plus side, I don't have to learn how to cook after all. Downside, now all the corona anxiety is back with interest, because she's a vulnerable group and she had to go through an international airport. Worry.exe

I have this weird thing where anytime I'm reading a story and they put in one of those annoying final test-ish math problems, normally followed my the character going "Fuck this, I dunno", I have to actually math it out myself. I can't just leave it hanging there unsolved. Thankfully I can ignore the most common ones, the train leaving two cities at the same time, because it's always about American cities and apparently the distance between Chicago and St Louis is common enough knowledge to leave it unsaid.

Today I had to record classes for my students for the first time, my dad's store has been closed for days, some of my relatives refuse to take the crisis seriously enough even while living with my grandparents, and I might graduate college without seeing my friends and teachers in person again. Meanwhile, the president keeps downplaying the situation to not hurt his own ego.

So yeah, the reality of this situation really hit me today. I'm not desperate or anything, but it's hard to believe how real this is.

How are y'all dealing with the situation over there?

I'm a supermarket worker so I don't feel affected at all.

Colleagues are 50/50 between "lol nothing is going to happen" and "i accept death, the only salvation".

My stupid nephew got caught in a "secret party" yesterday and almost got his stupid minor ass in jail. Family can be such a pain sometimes.
Everything else feels frozen, even the sounds of the cars outside stopped. It is kinda awkward to not open the Bakery every day, but I am definitely dealing with it better than my girlfriend is. The poor girl really doesn't know who to deal with not working.

I'm in pretty much the same situation as you, though thankfully I haven't needed to record video classes so far, and my mother and in-laws have finally realised the situation is serious.

My university has suspended classes indefinitely since last Tuesday, and later the same day our governor has decreed that all schools, from kindergarten to university, public and private, suspend their activities for 15 days.

The main problem is that I'm studying to be a teacher and I'm supposed to have an 40 hours internship this semester. As in, going to a class in a public school and teaching classes. With the way things are going, I don't know how it'll work out because even before this entire mess started half the public schools were already on strike.

Wow, they suspended classes? That's crazy, this is a tight academic year to do this on. I hope everything works out well for you, I'm not looking forward to my own internship when I go for my second graduation.

I thought I was handling the whole thing pretty well, until I managed to give myself a minor panic attack over a cough. Quarantine measures are deeply neccesary but "you can't go out of your house unless for very specific reasons" is getting to me more than I thought.

On the plus side, the country's been handling the crisis with a surprising amount of competence, so we've been avoiding the worst thus far. Hearing the news from Italy (right next door, even) and Spain is... frightening, frankly.

Honestly, I've been lucky to never hear this type of stuff. Probably because it wasn't my intention until I ended up as one lol

That's pretty funny. Learning the new tools hasn't been too bad for me, but some of my older colleagues are having a tough time. Luckily the kids have been pretty helpful and understanding.

You know what sucks? Having to explain by phone to my 11 years old nephew why I can't go play video games with him on his birthday like we always do.
At least he is chipper now that he knows my present (A Switch) is arriving tomorrow.
