Yo, try not to drink anything or you might ruin your device in anger/laughter.
On another note, did you know you can't just buy a phone anymore? I didn't. Went looking today to replace my 5 year old phone, so I took a trip to the newly re-opened malls. I like my current plan and number so I wasn't looking to upgrade or switch providers or anything. I start at the kiosk of my provider. Guy spends 5-10 minutes with me narrowing down which phone I want. Settle on one that retails at 780$.
"Okay, so we can give you that on the premium plan (20 dollars more a month over my current plan) for an additional 20$ a month for 20 months (800$ total, more than outright purchase), or my current plan at and extra 30$ a month for 30 months (900$)"
"That's more than outright. Just sell it to me upfront"
"We don't do that, we can only sell it with a plan"
"But I have a plan with you already, I just want a new phone"
"You need to take one of the 0 down plans"
"But that's more than the phone is worth"
"Those are the only options, sir."
"Nevermind, I'll go somewhere else"
Rinse and repeat at six different independent phone kiosks throughout the mall. I feel like I'm going crazy. No one wants to just make a 700 dollar sale, and every time they offer me a plan that adds up to more than the cost of the phone, always saying that I'm saving money by getting this deal. Am I the only one who can do this kind of math in my head? Do that many people take this kind of thing at face value when they tell you it?
The real kicker though is once I get home I check Best Buy's website on a lark and it's there unlocked, 100 dollars cheaper, free delivery, arrival before the end of the week.
