I'm trying to cope with the fact that, for reasons beyond my control (of which I never really had any to begin with) my life is all downhill from here on, and it's not like I'm high as I am at the moment.

I'm afraid. I just kinda want everything to just end already. I'm also disgusted by the kind of person I've become but I can't and really don't want to change either.

Was thinking about trying to go back through the Kingdom Hearts series now that it's "finished", and as much as I love 1 and it's ending is one of my favourite endings in video games, the one bit that always gets me is during the tutorial, calling the Dream Rod a "staff of wonder and ruin". I never pick it, because I want to hit things, but it's one of my favourite bits of flavour text.

Hence the quotation marks. So much of the hype for 3 was that it was the end of the story they started in 1. Then it rolls around and 80% of the game is unconnected stuff.

That isn't very fair. They made pretty much clear that Kingdom Hearts 3 wasn't going to be the end of the franchise. Plus, the Disney Worlds basically not mattering is not exclusive for this game, it has been like that since KH 1.

The Disney worlds did matter in the other games, they gave a way to build the villains plans up so when it all comes together you can see where it came from. In 1 it was building up to all the missing princes that open the gate, and in 2 it was looking for how to grow hearts for Nobodies. What were the Xehanort squad actually doing in each world? Looking for a box that had no relevance to the plot, looking for new Princesses that again don't matter, or in the case of Toybox and Big Hero looking at ways to grow hearts from automatons, which ends up being what the heroes use for all the voicing in their heads hearts.

I was just out walking around a tree and trying to swat lanternflies, and I watched a cicada killer fall out of the tree twice and crawl back up instead of flying. It comes plummeting down like a crashing helicopter and smacks into the ground. The first time, all I could think was "Look at the size of that sucker." I've seen them up close a number of times, but it's hard to get used to.

OTOH, Spoony, can you tell me how the hell the abomination known as "Lucro Brasil" still lives? I would think such a monstrosity would've died by now. I spent the last three weeks talking to one of my in laws and they have done nothing but tell me horror stories that were confirmed last week when I realized a business I was conducting with a friend was forced to close not only because obvious reasons, but because they sourced several e-components locally to get them cheap and they were nearly thrice as expensive as in Colombia where I am now.

The proper term is "Custo Brasil". And yeah, it does exist, mostly in the form of certain fields being overtaxed, but a lot - and I do mean *a lot* - of complaints about it either turn a blind eye to how taxation is only a part of it (like with videogames), or comes from people who want Brazil's labour force to be even cheaper than it already is so they can profit off it even more.

Of course, stressing the 'killing each other' part gives the impression one is arguing that was the first and foremost thing they did all the time, when for all we know the Europeans were much more at each other's throats than the so-called 'savages'.

I mean, cases like the Caribe tribes massacring others and the bloody wars in Mesoamerica are undeniable, but the warfare campaigns in Europe around those times were much more widespread and even more frequent.
