Y'know, sometimes ignorance really is bliss. After hearing about the statue sat atop the BBC that was vandalised last night, I decided out of morbid fascination to look up why it is so hated and I was disgusted...yet could not look away as I kept reading about how the artist was so depraved it was not enough to be a paedophile, not even raping his own daughters was enough, he even went after his own pets. I think I need a shower now...

Of course, the BBC are refusing to take the statue down, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised - the BBC are second only to the Catholic Church in protecting paedophiles after all.

Heard about that one. I don't know if I agree with taking it down though. Guy was terrible, but you shouldn't destroy his works because of his faults. If it came out in a few years that Da Vinci were a rapist, would we get rid of the Mona Lisa? Are we going to get rid of every movie Harvey Wienstein financed?

I suppose looking back on it my initial reply seemed a bit passive-aggressive. Was just making a slightly obtuse joke. I never took any offense either way, so no problem.
