Just got back from a fair and turns out I burned my mouth on Takoyaki. I should have known better, but I was so excited to actually see a stall selling it, I forgot this happens every time.

My dad has this weird habit of persistently pronouncing certain foreign words incorrectly no matter how many times he's heard them. Like he says focaccia "focaseea." The guy's more educated than I'll ever be, and his English isn't "broken" in the least. I just don't get it.

The way Americans pronounce Italian words is pretty inconsistent vis-a-vis actual Italian but we do generally get that bit right. The weird thing is that Dad says it differently from everyone else here.
