i've met one that's pretty friendly and charismatic. but that's probably because she's my granma
I have just begun the process of getting papers to teach, so that I can have a somewhat comfier job.
Confoundingly, (and I do not mean to offend anyone itt), everyone is bitter as hell that I am actually more or less competent at what I intend to teach, because I actually did it until now. I thought that 'he ho can't do it teaches it' was a meme, teacherbros, but it just keeps stunning me over and over how many of these structures in pedagogy are built as a clear cope reaction to the teacher being incompetent. I guess it's attractive to expect less of students because it lets you expect less of yourself, or something?

Unfortunately for the students. I think 18 is far too early to actually decide what you want to do and be in life, but in defense of people who go to pedagogic faculty first, at least teaching provides a good stepping stone to make money and work your way towards whatever you actually want to do. Provided you do not lose your mind doing it.
"Oh wow, that burn still hasn't healed completely yet? I guess it was more serious than I thought."
I wanted to go the hospital immediately, but no...

That feel when you go to the staff chtistmas party expecting to have a few obligatory drinks and then get back home to weeb out on the weekend, and end up too drunk to drive ,so you walk 30 min home instead, and only once you're within spitting distance of home realize that your have to convince a friend to give you a lift to work tomorrow when your hung over.

It probably varies by the field. If you teach the native language the bar is pretty high, if you teach math or history you need to keep the numbers straight, even if you lack the spirit.
Meanwhile, if you teach a foreign language, nobody will be able to call you out. And I have -definitely- noticed a pattern of art teachers being teachers as a result of their unwillingness to actually dedicate themselves to art at length, hence being all rather the 'fan of art' academic gallery type than the actual doer. And that breaks my heart.
"Nobody will be able to call you out"
(snorts) Certainly doesn't seem to stop them.
shit BL says
Once and always and nevermore.
"BL got a discord?"
Thought an old member...
When there is too much love, too much compassion,
too much understanding, too much kindness, too much thankfulness, too much respect, and too much heart, then it becomes an act of cruel violence.
BL has too many discords.
Imagine that the world is made out of love. Now imagine that it isn’t.
Imagine a story where everything goes wrong, where everyone has their back against the wall, where everyone is in pain and acting selfishly because if they don’t, they’ll die.
Imagine a story, not of good against evil, but of need against need against need, where everyone is at cross-purposes and everyone is to blame.

I don't know what types of teachers the others are, but I think the fact that Type Moon magic powers have a connection to the useless humanities degrees a lot of us ended up with might be one hypothesis.

It makes me sad that so many of the humanities are so unyelding in their essence to the capitalistic tendencies of the job market that they are made to be lesser because of it.
