The Hunter x Hunter vibes are really to 11 now.
Actually, that does make me wonder. All of the girls' weapons have names. Is it just considered normal in RWBY-verse to give your weapon a name? I suppose that makes sense, since the weapon is considered an extension/reflection of the person who uses it.
I think most characters in RWBY will rely on their weapons in fighting, so the bond between weapons and owners must be strong. Therefore, it's understandable to name your comrade properly. Except for Ren, whose skill is way more OP.

My very first attempt on writting, I don't have courage to post it anywhere but my blog.
My little project (no longer delayed, but release date is like constipation)
Spoiler:
Ruby said that all students at Signal Academy forge their own weapons so there must be a strong bond between them.
What's the problem and how much of it is your fault?
Course that means if they get smashed the student might have a nervous breakdown.
But ain't it a she?
And once again Jaune breaks the supposed rules stated by another character.
BEHOLD! THE SIG OF GOLDEN TRUTH! Pillaged from McJon, Tsukikan et al.
No, that's a rule for people who attend Signal Academy, Ruby's junior-high monster-hunter school. Beacon Academy is something else entirely, with its own rules as to weapons. Actually, by the time they get to Beacon, everyone ought to already have a weapon. (Phyrra, for example, is explicitly stated as having gone to a different lower-tier academy whose name I can't remember off the top of my head.)

Am I the only one who noticed Yang eyes turn back to natural color for an instant?
I've got no clue what is going with that girl and her hair and eyes and what the hell. My best guess is that she's got a lot of reiryouk- I mean ki- I mean yoki- I mean aura. Just aura. And it does something to set things on fire or something.
... theorizing now, mage type characters are those who have the talent, power, or otherwise learn to control their aura in more precise ways or/and to affect the outer world instead of just themselves.
