If his code was "he can't eat candy" that might be why he died. Also explains why the knife wound has barely any blood, it's because he was stabbed after he died from his NG code.
Doesn't explain why his skin didn't turn purple though.

My guess is Monaca's trying to start a FF civil war over the ex-Remnants and Naegi since her Towa plans fell flat.
All in all I'd say the last six minutes or so redeemed the episode. Without that, it would have been body discoveries, a little bit of what's probably foreshadowing and not much else.
... I liked him, shame that he had to die, would've been nice to see more of him to establish a bit more of his character.

So Mitarai knew Junko : that is interesting and it would explain how she got to influence the 78th class.
It was interesting to see Junko's arguments for Izuru since they both are too talented and bored of the world despite being on opposite sides so she would know how he feels.
Now that I think about it, Izuru could be the antagonist of Danganronpa 3 because aside of reviving Junko he didn't do much for someone this talented and it would make sense that he planned for the events of Danganronpa 3 including his resurrection.

Apparently, Despair arc will only be 11 episodes as an special program with the cast talking about the show is scheduled in the timeslot that should belong to Despair 12.
Some people are guessing that this is the characters commenting on Ryouta's show and how they were portrayed in it

That might just mean anything permanent, but it's more likely that old man Kirigiri just never knew about Mukuro's contact with Izuru until it was too late.
Way, way too short a run for the story they're trying to tell. Not only is it supposed to tell about Class 77's fall and Izuru's, it's got extra details being put in like Ryota's never mentioned before encounter with Junko*. This needed to be at least six episodes longer, preferably more.
*Edit. Alright, maybe that's to have her exposing the Imposter and making him fall into despair, but it could have just as easily been done by having her just be that good at analysis that she figured it out on her own.

So Junko wants to destroy the world because her talent made life a giant SPOILER? Well once again you have to hand it to her determination and creativity. Curry Rice/favorite food torture that's a new one, especially when shown in such graphic degrees.
I've never been a big fan of Junko but she was amazingly hot this ep. I think I understand the appeal now.
My love of the character is that she's so unabashedly, unashamed, no-excuses the villain. There aren't any deep dark tragedies in her past, no conviction that what she's doing is right for people and no brainwashing for her. She's just so bored with everything that she'll go for ruining the previously mentioned everything for her own amusement. That and her bizarre interactions with people (notice me Izuru-senpai!) help.
Sure she's got big boobs, but so does Asahina.
So Monaka decided to go to space because she was bored ? Okay then. A shame that the hellspawn didn't get what she deserved but at the very least that is one problem down for Naegi and co.
I am interesting by she said before she left : one of the original survivors will die because of Naegi.
Obviously it points out to Kirigiri but Asahina is also in danger since the traitor might have tried to kill Asahina but saw the fake death caused by Monaka and killed Gozu instead.
It would be hilarious if Hagakure was the one.
Overall a meh episode : it was nice to see the girls in action but the ending of the Monaka subplot was pretty weak in my opinion.

Keep in mind that is what I understood based on the visuals, the characters' reaction and my little knowledge in japanese so I could be wrong about the whole 'DR 1 survivor will die' since the subs are not out yet due to delays.

She got her punishment offscreen by having to listen to hopeman nonstop.
I really like the bonding between Komaru and Touko. It's even more impressive that Komaru stopped her Syo half from chasing Monaca just by saying that Byakuya was waiting for Touko. That's real friendship right there. And Komaru worrying about Touko while Touko thanked her.
