Welcome, welcome all.

So I look around Beast's Lair and in one particular section I find something, something that I wanted to try out: Fanart.
Seeing all these other artists around here made me want to try it out as well, reason being is that I want to compare my own works to theirs; also hoping I get some critique.

I leave my thread to start with this picture; ladies and gentlemen, I leave you with my first contribution:

It's a rough picture and lacking in a few details, however I'm quite satisfied (proud) of it and considering how much of a perfectionist I am that's saying something.
Usually when I start up a picture I would always be dissatisfied with it, erase it, become discouraged, and give up drawing for the day.



Here's the story behind the creation of this picture (For those who care about it):

I wanted to get into the fanart scene (as stated above), however I have yet to acquire a tablet or anything of the sort, thus I'm stuck with the drawing programs and lacking in the much needed hardware.
Curious about what sort of drawing I could conjure up and having nothing better to do I decided to try them out. I jumped into Microsoft Paint (Yes, Paint, don't know why I did though) and started doodling. Eventually I had a solid image in my head and went with it, did take a while to get it done however.
The end result is this.

Critique is welcome, in fact I would very much like to have some. (Not a masochist, honest!)

I'll also likely upload my sketches as well to this thread.

I'm not really good enough to be giving anyone feedback, but it seems to me like the creases that denote where the shoulder joints are are a bit oddly placed. I would move them in closer to the body so that the arms at the shoulder have a fuller look.

I'm not a doc or anything, so take my anatomy with a grain of salt, but aren't Archer's shoulders less sloped? It seems sort of narrow for him.

Yeah, noted. I'm not the the best when it comes to crease placement on the clothing, i'll try to improve that next time around.

I figured that with Archer crossing his arms it would be acceptable to make his shoulders like that.
IRL you always have shoulders sloping downward, with Takeuchi you have shoulders that seem perpendicular with the neck.

Really? I just tried it out with my own face and it seemed like my own ear at the top lined up with the ridge in the bone that signified where the eyes started.
I'll take it into account next time.
That being said, I really don't want another example of Crocker syndrome here.

Took about three days worth of work to get it this far, but as you can obviously tell I'm still not done with it yet. You know, finish drawing, add details, colouring it and so forth.

Tell me what you guys think of it.

I like the work on the hand very much. The ears are a bit weird though

Yeah, they stick out too much I think. They could also be longer.

Hoh, very nice. You draw nice hands, I gotta say. The hands...
As for critique, his chest looks a bit too wide, especially compared to his head.
And maybe there's something about his ears, but that's probably just me.

^ I admit I've been heavily influenced by Takeuchi's 'super broad shoulders' a little too much, but I assure you his chest only looks really wide because of the clothing!

I guess I'll have to work on the ears; make them a bit narrower, little longer too.
