A question, because I remember this was a bit of an issue last year with the contest. Under what categories are you judging the fics that will participate, and how will you define those categories?

I'm not Mil, but I guess I'll try to answer this.

Basically, the author self-selects the category, so we expect the author knows "where their story places." If they put it in action, for example, we'd expect some action, and so on.

That said, I think Mil was saying on IRC he was considering more categories. Personally, I agree three is a bit lean.

Ah, I may have worded my question wrong. For instance, I remember last year there was a bit of an issue in judging the story in terms of 'creativity' that had, as far as I knew, not been outlined to the authors prior, and a few people were upset when they got low scores on those counts. What I'm suggesting is you list and define the terms you will all judge for beforehand, to avoid what happened last year.
