A friend recommended I watch this... and here is my judgement.
Note: I recently watched LOGH right before Gosick, so I might be... biased.
Storyline (10/20)-Depth/Profoundness 4/10
Gosick feels similar, overall to the generic Sword Art Online style comedy/romance. While the Sakura-level horror that happened to Victorique & her mother attempts to provide a jarring contrast, overall, the intent/meaning of the story is still pretty shallow.
-Structural Integrity/Flow 6/10
The story of Gosick is fairly consistent, and its flows well, for the most part. However, the ending was pretty confusing, and it gives the impression this show was originally planned for 25 episodes, and got cut to 24.
Music (19/20)-Opening/Endings 10/10
Holy crap. The music is beautiful. The first ending, Resucitated Hope is one of the most beautiful anime endings I have ever listened to... and fits incredibly well with the premise of this story.
Bones doesn't pay Lisa Komine enough. I really can't ask for more.
-Other Music 9/10
The scenic/event music evokes the right feelings, at the right time, at the right strength, just making the scene stronger.
Characters (8/20)-Character Design 4/10
What. Both the main characters are somewhat detestable. Kujo has moments of (minor) badassery, but is a complete wimp around Victorique.
I don't care how compatible/awesome or 'destined' you guys are, no man should tolerate her physical/verbal abuse, or her general lack of respect.
And that brings me to Victorique... Your crush saved your life 3 times in the first case alone, and then you guys held hands afterwards! I was all like "D'awww" then the very next episode you go around kicking him and calling him stupid! What the fuck is this shit?!?!
I mean, these retards for main characters are incredibly adorable during rare moments, where I'm cheering for them, but for the majority of the anime I have a burning need to defenestrate them... repeatedly.
-Character Development 4/10
Very little early on, mostly with Victorique acknowledging that shes actually human and has feelings. Then the last 2 episodes come and she instantly grows up & stops being a cunt?!?
Also, the Roscoe brothers last minute life revelations in the last episode... Yeah, it feels like this anime got cut one episode.
Art (17/20)-Character Art 9/10
The character's art is extremely fitting for their personalities; first impression of Kujo = kind-hearted guy at core, that look in Victorique's eyes in the opening just screams 'searching', the teacher gives the impression of a airheaded accidental troll, etc et al.
I like the character art design. The semi-tousled look of Kujo, that godly flowing hair of Victorique's, and the viviant, avid look of Avril all feel right, for some reason.
-Other Art/Animation 8/10
Both the setting and scene design fit well with the story. It has quite the 'quaint charm'.
Memorability (18/20)This is hard to describe or justify, since different people will remember different things.
Its not Fate/Tsuki, but this story is Code Geass memorable for me. It could have been so much better that I'm a little mad, but this anime is not bad.
Perhaps I'm just an uncultured sap, easily pleased by cute couples.
Final Score 72/100
