Maybe he doesn't understand Japanese as well as he wants everybody to think, and the entire reason his KnK translation was so unique with all the added fluff was to obscure that. And now that he's working with a team under more stringent quality standards, things are moving more slowly since he can't just freeball and make stuff up. He actually has to dictionary-hump like the rest of us mere mortals.

Getting rustled over slightly different vocabulary is small time. That entire stunt was intentional, since he knew the fandom well enough to know that making up his own terms would cause an endless shitstorm that distracts from the more pertinent issue that if you took out all the text he added from nowhere, the translation would be half as long.

You seem to be under the impression that the problem is the terminology. It's not. The problem is the added nonsense. Have an example:

The idea here is that the Laughing Man Puppet has gone through all kinds of punishing training and had fought against mages who are at the pinnacle of their craft, thus the laundary list. (Glamour, Charm, Compulsion. Freezing, Waxen, Mystic Eyes of Petrifaction). However, nothing prepared him for Alice's Flying Pig Familiars, and he was freaking out.
