No, the real answer we know in our hearts is console pseudo-exclusivity, milk the "guaranteed" paying customberbase enough until an arbitrary amount of time has passed, and then drop the game into a different market (i.e PC gamin') and then inject new life into the property's marketability until the novelty of that too fades.

Given their overly structured daily schedule that eats away at your individuality it isn't really surprising they grab onto mobile and portables as much as possible.
It just really really really really really sucks.
Once I was reading OG Tsuki in my laptop on a train ride to uni and then the Akiha-sucking-Kohaku's-blood CG turned up and I closed the lid down faster than the Flash.
Though I guess that won't be a problem for VNs nowadays.

Sure, but that's also a big issue with the YOUNGER GENERATION in general pretty much everywhere (nerds not included). I'm studying information systems and you wouldn't believe how many people (a majority, I would say) in my classes don't have any real grasp on how to use computers. It's just the natural consequence of the push for mobile-only and all that jazz, Japan just happened to be ahead of the curve for years.
iirc pc is way more expensive than in the rest of the world for some reason

You have very strange ideas of how reality works. While china produce way more than other countries and it's with no doubt the top producer for PC, phones and the like, China produce, what, one third of the whole world consumer electronics?

What do you mean strange ideas? That's globalization 101, the outsourcing of industry both as a means to strengthen China's economy, a way of developed countries to sidestep the responsibilities of their own pollution, a way to lower the money spent on labor forces, and a myriad more reasons.
