The patch that will translate the game with the translation from the Let's Play, which they prefer because it's the one they are used too. I don't really have any feelings on it one way or the other. On the other hand maybe these guys will translate tanuki as tanuki which would be rather novel.

I always think it's funny how a real species of animal is always deemed Too Japanese.
That patch is a weeb shithouse translation cashing in on the LP zeitgeist. SUPER DUPER LUCKSTER GUIZ.
It's also not going to be as nearly as thorough as the LP Patch will be, that one has image editing and shit courtesy of HelloWinter.

Only if prairie dogs are a type of dog and not a rodent. I think every translator who has "localized" the tanuki's name in such a way should be lined up to have their teeth kicked in by a biology professor.
Anyway I haven't personally seen the translation so I can't really say anything about it itself.

Yeah, its great that all of TM translations are super consistent in their names and term.... oh wait.
It's the only problem I've heard about. Maybe once we actually get it it will be cokesakto all over again. Kind of doubt it since these guys have line limits and visuals to restrict any drastic changes but that does only go so far as seen by the Mahoyo demo.
Laith's face when gg subs insists on calling Monokuma Monochrome and everyone else just sticks with Monokuma.

If you can barely stand the original name of a character then go find another series to read/play/watch/whatever.
No I dislike the fact that I have to know japanese to understand when monobear is a perfectly acceptable term in english.
Basically, if I'm reading in English, I only want to read English, that simple.

Names are names to me. No one bothers calling someone named Michael "Who is like God?" every time they have to refer to them by name. English speakers have just forgotten what names are supposed to sound like because they've borrowed from 15+ different langauges.

By the same logic, you'd have to translate the names of ALL characters. For example, calling Shirou and Sakura "Sword-man" and "Cherry Blossom".
Accept it: you're nitpicking way too much.
