I dunno, the show was entertaining and everything, but it wasn't engaging enough for me to feel interest in reading the manga.

It was a fun and interesting summer blockbuster, and definitely one of the better anime action flicks, but I only watched it casually ( I didn't really go "ZOMG! That was so amazing, can't wait for the next episode, oh the horror of waiting for another week!!!" except for a few episodes during the Expedition Arc or whatever it's called ). I'm not really into shounen anyways, so I'll pass on reading the manga.
If there's a second season sometime in the near future, then I'll definitely check it out. Until then, though, I'll find me some other shows to pass time with.

tbh, I started watching it when 5 episodes had come out and after I marathoned through them, I was really hyped for the show, but afterwards the hype faded away slowly. It was still good though.

Manga handles Trost way better but other than that I wouldn't necessarily rec it over the anime. Just tell people to skip 6 eps of Trost because they are drawing shit out almost as bad as Endless Eight.

Better pacing, and Franz being on two sides of the street literally saves the entire Trost Arc.

I-I liked Trost. Okay, I could've done without Armin's endless internal monologues and flashbacks, and those awkward scenes (PURPLE GROUND) in episode 13, but I did like most of it. The entire scene where Eren closes the breach while all the Garrison fodder dies is probably my favorite scene in the whole anime.

My gripe with the Trost arc is the random, sudden cutaways when Jean was running away from Titans. It was TDKR all over again.

That's one of those episode 13 awkward moments I mentioned. The whole Jean rescue scene was a giant clusterfuck. From the cutaways to that incredibly awkward close-up on first a Titan's and then Annie's face. I guess... she killed the Titan and saved Jean? Don't ask me.

The extra Marco scene was appreciated though.
