Kind of surprising that the anime is going so slowly. I guess they felt the series didn't divide into proper season length chunks very easily and just said hell with it, we're spending 24 episodes getting to the end of the training camp.
Also, Senzaemon is better.
Really, it's going exactly the speed I thought it would go. I mean, what do you want to skip to speed through it. Because you'd have to skip one the 'battles' at this point to get through things faster and every one of them is kind of important to introduce characters or concepts so far. The training camp is right after this, so starting episode 8 unless they take two episodes for the shokugeki against Nikumi (doubt it) and unless they add some filler will probably take like 6-8 episodes for the entire thing.
It's divided awkwardly, but if anything the season will probably end right before the competition for the first years if we don't hit filler.

The training camp lasts until almost chapter forty. We're at about twelve. Why do you think that the arc that takes twice as long as the content that came before it would actually take less time? The anime will probably use up at least seven episodes using just the most obvious stuff.
Because the training arc only has so much content in it. We have pre camp episode (if they don't add it to the end of Nikumi Shokugeki), the search for ingredients and introduction of Italy Twins, Mountain ingredient match with probably cooking 100 meals and meeting Dojima, France Sempai and Megumi match, Soma screwing up breakfast, Soma Cooking 200 omelettes, post training camp with sempai cooking and awkward car ride. They might shoe horn in another episode or so but there isn't really any way for them to get 10+ episodes out of the arc.

Even if you're right, that just raises it's own problems. Namely, how are they going to fill the other 7-9 episodes? I don't actually mind the slow pacing much, but I'm worried about how much they intend to adapt.
Also, the chapter is interesting. I look forward to Souma finally realizing the gap between him and Erina. He can't hope to catch up to her until he knows how much better she is. Of course, the story could try to pit him against Eizan instead, in which case he might actually win after a brief arc. In short, hype time!
