Permadeath in a gatcha game is financial suicide lulz. There's probably going to be some lite death per map or something.

For fucking real I can't believe that, after putting out a "just buy it" ass Mario game for their first mobile title, Nintendo followed up with a fucking Gacha game for the second.
The fucking Sprite Based Fire Emblem answer was dancing in front of your face, HOW DO YOU FUCK THAT UP?
I just hope it's easy to reroll. I want my Lyndis or Larcei.

The story of Fates could have used a lot of work. Honestly I feel like none of the FE's had stories as interesting as 4/5, though 7 has a special place to me for being my first Fire Emblem. I really ought to play the GC Tellius games and see how their stories are. Awakening's story really wasn't compelling either. Time travel was a fun gimmick, but I couldn't feel any dramatic tension at all.

I mean, wouldn't that be taking the team who's doing the 3DS game away from their work?
IIRC didn't they emphasize wanting to make their mobile offerings significantly different than the ones on their gaming systems? Else you could get the experience of the games on nintendo hardware without having to buy a piece of nintendo hardware.
Which I generally thought was the thing they were trying to avoid.

They need to pull out of the 3DS way harder than they are to support the switch. Having just watched the direct, the confirmation of a full Switch FE later is good but they really should have put IS to task on a real mobile FE, yes.
They explicitly didn't do this with SMR actually. Their stated philosophy was to recreate the 2D Mario experience as much as they could on the platform. But unlike Mario, you don't even need to compromise with FE, a touch screen SRPG is a slam dunk. But no, burn that bridge with a gacha game, gj Ninty and IS.IIRC didn't they emphasize wanting to make their mobile offerings significantly different than the ones on their gaming systems? Hidari as artist ayy.
Something
I really like the art so far and am looking forward to more.
I'm still on the fence on whether or not to buy it, but the art is great and I'm pretty excited for it. I didn't enjoy Shadow Dragon that much, but New Mystery was fun to play. Kris may have been an issue for that game, but overall I enjoyed it. Need to see a bit more of it to make my choice, although chances are I'll support it just like I did Hyrule Warriors and Tokyo Mirage Sessions to get more third party developed games using Nintendo characters or in this case remakes.
Also the recently published ranking for the poll makes me pretty happy, granted there's a distinct Smash influence there, but it was a happy surprise to see the poll not being completely dominated by 3DS characters, although it seems like anything before the Game Boy Advance games didn't make the cut, but still I'm happy to see a blend of new and old. Now I'm going to waste some votes on Karel, although I'm reconsidering my plan to vote four times for Roy and Lyn and then twice for young and old Karel and then some character I hadn't decided on yet. I might just use my last three votes on Roy to see if he can't reach the top, although Ike is fine too, but my favorite Lord is so close. Then again given that Ike got first and fifth maybe Roy isn't that close after all.
Also I've seen some people saying that Roy's popularity only comes from Smash, but surely there are other people like me who actually enjoyed him for his personality in his game. Not sure if I mentioned it here before, but I didn't even really bother playing Roy in Smash until after I played his game. Of course him and Marth drew my attention to the games and made me look them up, but until then I stuck to Link and Mario mostly.

yeah Roy is up there entirely because of Smash
I don't agree with that, if need be I'll go and replay Binding Blade to refresh my memory, but from the top of my head Roy is the kind of guy, who keeps his friends close and his enemies closer (When someone joined I forgot who maybe Elphin, I think it was Marcus brought up concerns if Roy should really trust that person and Roy basically said something along those lines.), Roy acts very differently when he's the commander of the army and basically tries his best to minimize casualties and that might make him appear as bland, he's just a 15 year old boy trying his best to lead the army that is the hope of Elibe so he's letting his emotions take a backseat, like most Lords that also act has the armies tactician he's smart, although he relies on Marcus a lot.
Roy/Shanna
Speaking of relying on Marcus a lot, their support conversation basically ends with Roy ordering Marcus to not retire because he still needs him and Roy says this in a pretty childish way which shows his age.
He's acting like a bit like a child, that he is, here refusing to let one of his pillars of support go and the way he said it it's easy to imagine a younger child saying it. Granted Marcus got the impression that Roy didn't need him anymore from their previous conversation, but that's besides the point. He also got really upset with Wolt, because he started calling Roy "Master Roy" instead of just simply by his name. He got so upset so much that the entire conversation revolved around that. His supports with Lance show that he doubts his skills as a leader and goes so far as to say that he needs to fight on the front lines and "experience the same pain as everyone else" to have some sort of credibility. He also really fusses over Lilina during their entire support making sure she's alright. Speaking of her everyone knows that Roy isn't strong, not just meta wise but in the game itself and Lilina's supports show this the best.Roy/Marcus
Lilina/Gonzales
Roy also wanted to learn magic, but Cecilia refused to teach him, because despite all his hard work he would've been outdone by Lilina, because he lacks the talent for magic. So she decided to teach him the sword, yet as he know Roy isn't exactly the strongest there either. Even Lilina knows this as said earlier. Lilina also noted in their support how Roy has recently become more confident when it comes to commanding the troops.
Lilina/Cecilia
She also goes on to talk with Bors on how Roy has changed and how he used to be clumsy enough to have "mismatched buttons on his shirt" etc., but I suppose I've gone enough into how they note how Roy changed over the course of the game from how he used to be. So it's not that Roy is bland so to say, but rather keeps his emotions in check as mentioned earlier. So during the story he's mostly focusing on doing the best thing to keep his army safe while growing into a better leader over the course of the campaign, but when he's with people from his childhood who he is close to he can be a bit more relaxed and let some of his more childish traits out.
So personally I don't think Roy is bland at all, but I guess I could write down notes next time I'm replaying the game, but I doubt I'm going to find much else as he's usually all business. I'm also not the best with words, which is why I used a lot of direct quotes from the supports, but I hope I got my point across.
