Normally I like tomes too, but I sadly I never got to use them much so far. I mean, Leo and Camilla are good mages, but Odin is better as samurai and I just haven't used Nyx. I dunno if the magic users in general here are worse, or if it's something else. Welp

Mages in Fates have been nerfed, particularly in Conquest because enemies have higher Resistance and Ninjas (a staple Hoshidan unit) are specifically designed as mage killers.

Hoshidan mages are also kind of gimped because Orochi has ass Speed and defenses and Hayato joins late in Birthright.

Hayato in Revelation and Ophelia in general are good though.

I hear changing Nyx into a Witch makes her a better unit.

Once I got Orochi leveled up and reclassed she's actually fairly destructive, enough, along with the fact she can heal now too, she's one of my main units. I mean she's not Rathat the Destroyer, but she holds her own. (Pairing Hayate with Mozo was a good decision . . .)

Even though Shiro only does okay damage, he's tough so I use him to tank a choke point.

I can easily. Having a healer who can tank out and/or avoid physical hits, and then retaliate as such sounds like one hell of a healer.

Well he wouldn't be able to fight back in PoR because he'd be equipping a staff. In RD he'd be stuck counterattacking with a staff.

Though tbf I can't remember if staffs were actually that bad or if it was just the guys holding them.

Staffs in RD all have 1 mt so it wouldn't be very good.

Micaiah makes an amazing healer in RD because of her redonkulous magic stat.

Just beat Conquest. The ending... wasn't too hard if you just paid attention.

Now I must wait for funds to buy the other 2 versions.

The game really just ended up, put Xander/Keaton or their children at chokepoint. Everyone else picks off the others. Use Archers to deal with bullshit mages and counterattack units.

26 was infuriating, not as much as ninja levels but Hans and the knights dive bombing you the moment you open the door is really BS.

That's why you have an Entrap staff and Hans has poor resistance

You can lessen their numbers by using Entrap to pull them out and pick them off one by one. Though you need a lot of Entraps.

It works on Hans too.

Well I don't really mind that, it's not like it's a dedicated healer. Getting a free staff user is pretty useful. Also reclassed Camilla, cause she didn't seem to be a good magic user, but I guess I just had bad growths? Oh well Wyvern Lord is still doing work.

Gotta have your own unit be some special snowflake that can make use out of magic regardless and also strength, cause why not? I really hate how Corrin is the lord and the importance of the player character, I would rather just be some random class that joins the main character, if the avatar stuff stays which is of course will, so more like Kris from twelve but maybe less overpowered.

Also writing suffers with all these supports, would be great if most characters had less supports once again and most couldn't marry or that was remove, not that it will, so just limiting it would be nice. I don't really care for "my unit" anyways so I'm okay if that one's support writing is garbage cause he's gotta support everyone, once again unlike Kris who didn't support that many. Ah well point is I don't like the avatar stuff as it is right now and I never pretend that's me anyways.

I wonder how bad it is that I cheesed chapter 19 lost a unit just before the end so I had my avatar more or less solo the entire map, not that it made much of a difference as I had the idea of doing it like that because the first time around 80% of the enemies decided to commit suicide on Corrin anyways. I'll miss those two weapon ranks and 3 levels I've gotten on some other characters, but more so than that I really hope this doesn't bite me later on. At least my level 9 Avatar can be pair up fodder for quite a long time now.

I don't really see Corrin as self insert so that stuff didn't bother me too much. I do agree that the game has too many supports.

You probably want to keep Camilla as a Malig Knight because Trample is a pretty sweet skill.

Oh he did? I totally forgot then, probably cause I didn't get that many. Thank you for pointing that out, else I probably would've gone on for quite a while believing that. Been so long since I played that game. Still I don't particularly mind if the Avatar gets a support with everyone, and bad writing ensures for the Avatar because there's only so much you can do with it, as long as the regular ones get a decent amount of supports, like 3-5. Instead of these stupid Avatar only supports and what not. Anyways my bad. At least I didn't make a total ass of myself and said I didn't mind if the Avatar supports anyone in advance.

Well I'd be okay with it if your own character has a bit more story relevance, but I felt that Robin is a bit too important for me, but it's way better than having the lord be your own character. I guess around Robin is okay for me, although I'd prefer if he were a bit less relevant.

Well I'm not using all my healers either, although I have Adventurer Niles, Felicia and Elise as staff users, I'm just saying that even if you choose magic as your bane (like me!) rescue staff utility and what not still makes staves great. Really can't go wrong with having a access to those sort of things if you happen to be in a bad spot. Also great, sounds like Chapter 20 may make me regret feeding all the chapter 19 kills to the Avatar, then again as said even when I approached it normally 80% committed suicide on my Swordmaster Avatar with Vantage. Until one enemy passed through went invincible with 2 hp and then proceeded to kill Felicia. It's just nice to have and staff range doesn't seem to scale off of magic... Or does it? I don't have access to staves on my Nohr path so I can't checked with my magic as bane Avatar. And the rest has decent enough magic.

Speaking of magic, it's amazing how Felicia went from almost benched to being a good unit only by obtaining the Flame Shuriken in Bitter Intrigue.
