Oh damn, mixed him up in my mind. I should've checked the wiki beforehand.
My latter clarification still stands regardless.
Can't remember who I went with during my playthrough. Hmm.
Something
yeah I ended up going with Karel
I thought about Harken because I heard his supports with Isadora are good, but Karel being in FE6 made him more appealing as I'll eventually get to playing that. There's also the fact that I dropped Guy a while ago and already have Raven promoted.

It's also been confirmed that Bows have 1-3 range and magic spells cost HP. There was a confusing line in an article by GameSpot about how there "would not be support function in battle" which I'm not sure whether that means that there are no support conversations or if it's referring to the Dual Attack/Dual Guard system from Awakening and Fates.

US Support
Spoiler:
I'd probably wager the latter.
Something
I just can't believe they decided to make a new fire emblem after all this time
yes yes nice meme
This seems to be a nice remake.
Huh if they are gonna keep the hp to use magic mechanic does that also mean that healers also get nosferatu as a default and can summon mooks? That would honestly be kinda cool if they kept those.
Spoiler:
Beat fe7, this was my team before the final fight
Went with eliwood x ninian, hector x florina, fiora x sain, erk x serra, and lucius x raven endings. also jaffar x nino but I never actually used them, just sat them in the corner the entire time
It was pretty fun. I still like awakening more (probably because it was my first fire emblem), but it was obviously leagues better than fates
A remake with MU mark would be amazing, pls let me do mark x lyn
I was debating on just moving on to FE6 or going through hector's mode, but in the end I think I'll just do hector's mode first. I reset a lot because I didn't want anyone to die (except Rebecca because I was lazy rip), so maybe this time I'll just try without resetting and see what happens. I'm not going to do hard modes though because I suck.
Pent and Louise are the PB and J of FE7

I had been using Pent up until the final chapter, but then the limit screwed me over and I couldn't fit him. I like all the other characters more than Louise/Pent so I wasn't going to replace any of them, but I still had one slot for someone, so I just choose Louise since I already had Erk/Lucius/Serra. If only I wasn't forced to use Nils.
But yeah also because she's cute.
<NEW FIC!> Revolution #9: Somewhere out there, there's a universe in which your mistakes and failures never happened, and all you wished for is true. How hard would you fight to make that real?
[11:20:46 AM] GlowStiks: lucina is supes attractive
[12:40] Lace: lucina is amazing
[12:40] Neir: lucina is pretty much flawless
I've started to read through all the support conversations in FE7 using a 100% save, and man do I understand the flak the 3ds games get now. They're all pretty solid (save for a few dumb ones), and actually do worldbuilding and reveal facets of characters that you don't usually see. Whereas the majority of 3ds ones are just about the character's sole defining quirk and that's about it (again, save for a few good ones). It actually kind of irritates me how mediocre the ones in awakening/fates are.
It's not like you're losing a slot rather just think of it as free deployment - just like the main lord.
I think it's because the older games limit how many people and more importantly who can support each other. For example there's no reason for Raven to have a support with Hector. That alone tells a lot about their characters. Another example would be that Matthew despite the bad blood between them can still have a support with Jaffar.
I also prefer the way the support bonus is handled in the older games. Pairing units up at all is just not my cup of tea. I'm basically missing out on a unit until I disband the pair up. Now the GBA way of doing things isn't all sunshine and rainbows. One of the fatal flaws of the support system is that locking them behind standing next to each other for a set amount of turns which is a bit silly especially when some of those turn counts can be in the hundreds. Still they solved that eventually by just giving out the points for being deployed in the same chapter. Some may not like that the supports are limited to just 5 per character, but I like that it allows the bonus to be pretty significant. For example with a certain weapon and set up Rutger can get over 100% crit.
Anyways when I first played a 3DS game it felt so weird having the support conversation quality drop like that. I'd much rather have quality over quantity and with just a few supports for each character it just works out better. It's also less tedious to find the good ones. As you've noticed there's some bad/comedy supports in the older ones and some do get pretty silly, but overall it feels a lot more serious and the character felt more real to me.
I may be biased, but it really felt like they spammed certain things way too much like Setsuna falling into a trap. Over and over. I almost can't remember anything else. I basically never use Harken, but if memory serves he's undercover in the Black Fang and thought he lost everything when Elbert got captured and killed (Possibly including his wife, at least there was some tension/drama between them.). Meanwhile Setsuna is maybe clumsy I can't remember if Felica is bleeding into her, falls into traps, gets saved by Hinoka a lot and it feels more out of pity that she's her retainer at all. Oh and I think in Saizo's support it was mentioned that she'd make a good ninja somehow I forgot the reason maybe cause she's sneaky.
This is less than a year ago vs I don't even remember the last time I used Harken. I know I read his supports at some point in the past, but I don't really care about him at all because having him means giving up Karel and he's one of my favorites. So I try to not get attached to Harken so I don't miss out on much aside from the only Brave Sword and the better unit because of the hard mode bonus he gets.

I hear a lot of people complaining about how the localizers took too many liberties with the support conversations in awakening/fates and that the original support conversations are more like the older FEs, dunno how true that is though
still better than radiant dawn which removed support convos though
