Eh, with a 10 dollar movie you can use negative publicity because some people (like me) want to see just how bad something actually is. All you end up losing is a few hours. A video game is 5-10x more investment on both those factors, so it happens way less.
Well unless it's a Steam game. Those can be cheap enough to justify "so bad it's good" and often the makers don't have the skill to make something that last for more than an hour.
