Although, dang, that "localizer" was disgustingly condescending. Anyone that took that attitude with the original author should be booted from the project. It doesn't matter if you are right or wrong, you do not publicly lecture the author of the product you are working on!

Odd that an US fighting game like Mortal Kombat is on Switch, but Japanese ones, like Tekken and Soul Calibur, aren't.

If they aren't willing to make a decent netcode that can be played outside Japan, why would they care about shrinking the game down to be playable on the switch?

It's not odd at all if you understand the japanese fighting game community. As in, make no decent ports on any hardware younger than 7 years ago, make everything to be played in arcades despite their decades long slow decay outside the nichest of niches(moot point, I know), do not listen at all to the community on anything, and by god don't you dare release yourself from the past.

Not just the fighting games either. Konami's terrible and Capcom has a huge back catalogue they refuse to touch.



Arcsys seems to be pretty on the ball and it seems like Capcom may be coming around a bit, though that might only be on SF6.

Capcom's been doing pretty good for themselves since Inafune left. I think they had like a miss with 3 REmake, but after thinking about it I'm not all that sure if 3 was even all that good so. Like seriously everything that's been released since like 2017's been pretty fucking great.

Yeah, but unless it's Monster Hunter, Resident Evil or Street Fighter, there's little chance of seeing anything from thier older IP's. Dragon's Dogma is coming back, which is good for those fans, but it probably also means that DMC isn't getting another game any time soon.

I'm honestly with you on this. If Itsuno said that he's done with the franchise for good and wanted to do other things, I'd say he earned it. That and the fact DMC 5 ended where it did, they might try to go in a slightly different direction with fresh blood at the helm. At this point it would probably be for the better. And yes, they should take their time. Don't forget the fact that they released 4 games from 2001-2008. Capcom doing that shit again would be unwise, imo. I mean, look at Mega Man.

While Mattias is correct with regards to their smaller IPs getting nothing, what did surprise me was Pragmata. A brand new IP that looks out there as hell...I did not expect that. Between that and Exoprimal (RIP Dino Crisis though) I'm huffing hopium that they're at least trying to experiment, which is a rarity in the AAA game industry these days.

I don't, but I've always like the feel of Platinum games more, but I like seeing other games in the genre succeed.

Is Pragmata that one space thing they teased a few years back?

Yes, they announced it in 2020 for this year, but they later pushed it back for 2023.
