I was so full of optimism when SEGA revealed they have 2 secret Sakura Wars projects still in the works after Shin Sakura Taisen. but dreams are dreams and reality is hell, as it turns out those two projects were one and the same: a phone gambling kusoge. Seems like a bad bet by them, no pun intended. I could be wrong but, and maybe it's just wish fulfillment, but I feel like kusoges are on the way out. Nothing lasts forever after all, and it doesn't feel like we are still in the peak of the genre's popularity.

the craze might be slowing down but i dont think gambling simulators are gonna disappear completely anytime soon unless they get banned by law. i think there will always be a couple of those really big ones that manage to stick around that make some suit guy think hmmmm maybe we should make a gambling game with this IP.

So Nintendo just had a Direct where they cracked open the vault and ported every 3D Mario game to the the Switch. Except Galaxy 2 and 3D Land, I think. All the classic NES games got put into a bundle too, along with a Mario 1 Battle Royal in a similar style to Tetris 99.

Galaxy and 3D world not being stuck on my WiiU is another nail in that system's coffin, one which I never expected since Nintendo almost never ports Mario games forward. What's left on that system? I think only my Metroid Prime Trilogy (which will probably get a port before 4 comes out), and Starfox Zero (which they'd need to make playable before they put it on the Switch). I still can't believe they actually ported #FE.
