Yeah, but normally once they stop putting out consistent DLC you've got about two years until the next entry. It's why a FighterZ 2 feels likely, since they've only put out Labcoat 21 in the last few years.
The only thing that throws it out of whack is the pandemic, so what gaps would normally be taken as the devs hunkering down for the new iteration could just as easily be the studio unprepared for remote work and things slowing to a crawl.

I know that Bayo 1 just got a physical version for the Switch. You might be thinking of that but I dunno.
All I know Bayonetta already had her Bayo 2 costumes in Smash 4, so the game is at least 7 years old.
Bayo 2 came out in 2014 I believe. Sega ditched them as a publisher, so Nintendo stepped in. It was exclusive for the Wii U for quite a while, and one of the only reasons to buy the thing.
I was being, whachamacallit, facetious. It reallt feels like yesterday when there was the big hubbub about Bayonetta getting a sequel and in a Nintendo console of all things.
Though I think her getting into Smash is definitely more recent.
