I mean SHIROU never hid the fact that he had a blazing desire for the Grail
1. Aphocrypha said he is an irregular exception to the rule, and 2. the "O Queen of Assyria" Line has obscured his intentions somewhat.

?o.o For them, not us>< Even Assassin of Red only responded with suspicion to what he has done and said. She thought she might poison him sometime early, yes, but, poison is how Semiramis solves her life problems. Everyone just lampshaded how odd Shirou is, not to mention how he was the only Master on their side they ever saw, then shrugged and moved on.
A whole volume for that reveal to be forced out of him takes a certain amount of unwarranted trust on everyone's part. Everything he's done was fishy from the start.

They have known him for all of like 4 days, and the only guy who could feasibly know about his intentions (Karna) isn't the type of guy to talk behind people's backs. Please tell me more about you many people you know's dirty little secrets that they try to keep secret from you.
