I, personally, am fine with it as long as it can make sense. Someone like Genghis Khan, for example, shouldn't be genderbent. His whole thing about having tons of children wouldn't make sense if he was female cause that's a whole lot slower/more difficult for women to do, biologically speaking.

It's significant to the guy's legend, not necessarily his worth as a servant. Servants are still based off of legendary figures after all. You have to take legends into account, and part of Khan's is that he had so many children that an absurdly large portion of the world's population has a blood-tie to him.

It's not like his Noble Phantasm or skills would (probably) have anything to do with that.

It's still part of the legend. And a pretty famous one too, if google has to say anything about it. Third most searched thing about him, after quotes and movies. And associated fame, due to the existence of innocent monster, is apparently pretty important.
