A common disguise for Lancelot was a black knight with unmarked shield.

That's a disservice to Pellinore who was a great fighter that required Arthur to get Excalibur to beat him in the first place. Had sons like Lamorak and Percival who go on to be Knights of the Round Table themselves and was the original seeker of the Questing Beast.

I knew about the Lancelot thing but what does that have to do with Pellinore?

Fair enough about Pellinore himself, though. I've never read much of Arthurian Myth so I'm just speaking from casual impressions here. Though, he only broke Excalibur in some versions of the legend. In others it was Caliburn/the nameless sword from the stone (which would presumably be true in Nasu's version of events). I don't see how you can judge his own competency by that of his sons and being the first to seek the Questing Beast doesn't mean all that much since he never actually caught the damned thing on his own.

Sir Balin is the closest Arthurian Mythology gets to having a "Black Knight."

Unless you're talking about Sir Morien, who got the title "Black Knight" because he was...well, black.

(Actually, he was Moor, but medieval British people didn't know that/didn't give a shit.)

I'd say that's a distinction still not really made given how often Othello is played by black actors these days.

It's in my interest to know too since I used the Witchcraft Skill for a European Servant as well (Baba Yaga, if you're wondering). I could easily swap it to 'Shamanism' or the like though, given that was my original idea and I didn't even use the Witchcraft description given on TM wiki for it.
It's not about Witchcraft itself sir. It's about using the description for Dakini methods - an Eastern magecraft that currently only the Tamamos known to have practiced - for an European character instead of just making up a brand new description. So I wasn't wrong, you are.

Well, Hermes did take out the 'Dakini' part.

And I suppose my own take on it for Baba Yaga was right since I used a whole different description entirely rather then 'heavenly methods' one. (More fitting of Western witchcraft)

Doesn't really matter since Hermes specifically said he was aiming for the archetype of the Black Knight, not any particular character who fit that role.

    ---ASSASSIN---
    - Liu Qizan -
    Alignment: True Neutral
    ====================
    Strength: C
    Endurance: D
    Agility: B+++
    Mana: E
    Luck: C
    Noble Phantasm: E~A

    ====================
    Character details
Likes: Drinking and praying (typically at the same time)
    Dislikes: Meddlesome monks
    Talents: Raising a ruckus
Natural Enemy: Herself when she's sober

    Class Skills \
    ~ Presence Concealment: [E-]
A Servant's ability to obscure any clue of their presence. Due to her love of alcohol and lack of subtly, Assassin's rank in this skill has been brought down to E-. She may as well not have it. Once she gets within a certain range of another Servant, they can typically sleuth her out through their own devices. Non-Servants can also locate her through use of thaumaturgy. Chances are she will have already made herself known to her enemies before then. She is a very troublesome person when she drunk, and unfortunately for her Master, Assassin is never not drunk.

On a fundamental level, she fails as an Assassin-class Servant.

    Personal Skills \

    ~ Chinese Martial Arts: [A+++]
Philosophy and martial arts have gone hand-and-hand in China for centuries. Assassin is a complete dropout when it comes to the former, but in question to the latter, she is a master among masters. One must acquire an A-rank in this skill to even be considered a "master." Anything less is unacceptable. Even as obstinate as Assassin is, she managed to become one with the universe and, even while intoxicated, defeat thirty Shaolin monks who were masters in their own right.

Some say, when Assassin is sober she displays the true mastery of her martial arts. It's very unlikely anyone will ever get to see her in such a state.

    ~ Intoxicated Rumination: [A]
A skill unique to Assassin. Before she became a (heathen) monk, she loved her wine. When she took up her monastic vows, her love of wine ironically grew. Assassin is a strange drunk, however. Her senses do not truly dull, they just trim away what's "unnecessary." Her eyes don't become blurry, they simply focus on what's most important. Her hearing is not strained, her ears just hone in on key sounds. Her ability to process information does not worsen, her mind just focuses on a single objective. The extremities that her senses take make it very difficult for anything to distract, discourage or fool her.

In some strange way, Assassin's intoxicated state prevents the success of outside influences during combat, excluding mental thaumaturgy.

    ~ Drunken Fist: [A]
Zui Quan - a style of chinese martial arts of which Assassin is the incidental founder of. Unlike those who mimicked her style, Assassin herself has no sure basis for her technique. She performs her typical martial arts while drunk. That is all. For a martial arts master like her, it is also more than enough. One would think that fighting while intoxicated would only hinder a master's form. They would be correct, but the advantage of [Drunken Fist] does not come from technique. It comes from a profound lack of it.

Keeping up with Assassin's technique is next to impossible. It is not a question of speed, skill or perception. The uncoordinated way in which she shuffles back and forth, the awkward pace in which she throws blows, the unorthodox manner in which she dodges - she is undoubtedly the most unreasonable opponent one could ever face. Sneak attacks will never work because she will never be where you want her to. Overwhelming her with pure strength is meaningless because you will never guess a legitimate attack from the plethora of feints, and aiming for an opening is pointless because Assassin is full of openings, and every single one of them is a trap, whether they were meant to be or not.

Unless Assassin's opponent wields a skill similar to [Eye of Mind] or [Instinct], or they possess an equivalent rank in [Chinese Martial Arts], they will never be able to keep up with her during combat.

    Noble Phantasms \
Eighteen Luóhàn -Ascension Toward the Eightfold Path-
    [Anti-Unit] E~A(Range: 1 Target: 1 person)
A technique named after eighteen arhats, the original followers of Buddha who all attained enlightenment. It was a technique Liu Qizan mastered before taking her vows, and upon taking them, swore to never use in its complete form ever again. Due to this, a Command Seal from her Master is required. Li will not be bitter if they do so, but she will regret it nonetheless.

This Noble Phantasm is actually eighteen separate Noble Phantasms capable of being used individually, though Liu can only perform four of them on their own as an Assassin. If summoned as a Rider or Lancer, she will be able to use different Luóhàns, though using all eighteen together can be done in any class. Upon being compelled by her Master's Command Seal, Liu immediately sobers up and erects a Sphere Boundary encompassing herself and her target. While in this boundary, Liu can clear any distance with a single step. And with each step she delivers a Noble Phantasm - one of her Luóhàns. This is not an assault, however. It is an "awakening." With each step, Liu brings her opponent one step closer to Enlightenment, and when the final Luóhàn is used, the foe, if they are a Heroic Spirit, will be immediately dismissed back to the Throne of Heroes. A human will attain Nirvana.

It should be noted, this effect is limited to the Eighteen Luóhàn only. When used by themselves, the Luóhàns are just moderately impressive Noble Phantasms ranging from E-rank to A-rank in strength. Also, if Liu fails to land the final blow of this Noble Phantasm, the bestowal of Enlightenment will be lost, and each attack will have to be reapplied.

    Lore
Assassin's true name is Liu Qizan, a chinese martial artist from the Sung Dynasty, and the founder of the Drunken style of Kung Fu.

She was already a famous martial artist before becoming a monk, allegedly undefeated. On one occasion, she accepted a duel from an old friend. A duel that ended in his accidental death. Like a coward, she ran to the Shaolin Temple to escape persecution for her crime. The monks granted her sanction, but only if she took their vows and became a monk herself. Doing so was simple, but abandoning her love liquor was not.

After becoming a monk, her drinking habits worsened, perhaps due to guilt. The other monks at the temple took were furious at how whimsically she broke her own vows everyday, and unanimously agreed that she be removed. When she refused, thirty of them, all masters of Shaolin assailed her. She was completely drunk at this time, and still she defeated all thirty monks handedly.
The abbot, impressed with her odd style, told Liu she could stay as long as she pleased so long as she passed on the secrets of her technique. Of course, "passing on her techniques" involved Liu getting drunk daily, and beating up monks. It honestly wasn't that different from how her life was before.

There is a chance she still feels guilt over having murdered her friend. It's impossible to be sure though. Liu is never sober enough to give an honest answer.

    Servant Berserker:

    True Name
    : Sir Pellinore

    Alignment: Lawful Neutral

    Alternate Classes: Saber, Lancer, Rider

    Strength- C
    Agility- B
    Endurance- B+
    Mana- E
    Luck- C
    NP- B+

    Appearance:

    Personality
: An obsession with pursuing the illusive 'Questing Beast' has led to Berserker appearing mad at times, howling at the air and swinging his sword wildly to beckon the 'beast' into attacking him. He is constantly alert and hyper-attuned to his surroundings, in case the beast should happen to come by. Despite his obsession, he is still a knight of Camelot. Highly valorous and loyal, Berserker considers it his sworn duty to bring his Master's wish to fruition. Though erratic and easily distracted, he is ultimately good at heart. His own personal wish is, of course, to finally catch the Questing Beast. As a side-note, he is also a little bit of a hedonist and will indulge in pleasures such as fine wine and red meat when given the chance.

    Likes: duels, a successful hunt
Dislikes: being unable to complete a hunt
    Talent: single-minded obsession
Natural Enemy: Questing Beast, King of Knights

    Class Skills:

Mad Enhancement (EX)- Normally sacrifices sanity in exchange for power. Rather then madness, it'd be more accurate to call it 'obsession'. Berserker is utterly fixated on hunting and capturing a creature called the 'Questing Beast'. Though not truly insane, this level of obsession makes mutual understanding difficult to reach.

    Personal Skills:

Instinct (B+)- The power to "feel" the most favorable developments for oneself during battle. Berserker's many years spent pursuing the Questing Beast have left his senses honed to their limits, to the point where not even a falling leaf or disturbed blade of grass would escape his notice.

Weak Constitution (D)- A weakness struck by the nature of ill health. Similar in nature to Innocent Monster, where the perception of the people in the future affects their existence as a Heroic Spirit. At this rank, Berserker's parameters will gradually degrade for the longer he remains in protracted combat. Though Heroic Spirits are normally summoned at the pinnacle of their physical and mental prowess, popular depictions have resulted in Berserker appearing as an older man.

Charisma (C-)- Ability to inspire others and lead armies. Berserker was a well-respected king of Listenoise, coming from the royal line of Joseph Of Arimathea. However, in this Class his fixation with hunting the Questing Beast robs him of most of the skills he possessed as a ruler, leading to the - modifier.

    Noble Phantasms:

Sword Breaker- Shattering The King's Blade (B+, Anti-Weapon): A Noble Phantasm symbolizing how Berserker shattered King Arthur's sword in a duel. The two clashed three times on horseback and upon dismounting, Berserker broke the King of Knights' blade- the crystallized essence of his kingship- with one blow from his own sword.

As a Noble Phantasm, it allows him to recreate that feat of 'destroying the enemy's weapon'. Recreating the conditions of the original duel, it can only be invoked upon clashing thrice with the targeted weapon. Afterwards, Berserker can invoke this Noble Phantasm, shrouding his weapon in an aura of crushing dark fog lit up by flashes of scarlet as he performs a single mighty slash. This slash is powerful if it connects, but its true power is shown if the opponent falls for his ruse and chooses to block with their own Noble Phantasm.

The true power of Sword Breaker lies in destroying the enemy's weapon. Upon clashing, any weapon-type Noble Phantasm below A rank is instantly shattered, except for Divine Constructs. Once 'broken', all the effects of the Noble Phantasm in question will be instantly lifted, as if the target voluntarily broke it themselves.

Furthermore, as a Noble Phantasm is more then a mere armament but a symbol of one's heroic legend, breaking it is also a way of crushing their pride as a hero. Once their weapon is broken, the opponent's 'legend' will suffer matching damage, resulting in them receiving a Rank-Down in all parameters. This only applies if the Noble Phantasm in question is their strongest one- the true pinnacle of their legend. It is theoretically possible for a broken Noble Phantasm to be repaired, upon which the above mentioned effects will be annulled. However, such a feat could only be performed by a blacksmith without equal, a Heroic Spirit of smithery the likes of which does not exist in the modern era.

As a final note, the effect only applies to 'weapons', not defensive tools. Armor will not be affected while a shield may be, depending on whether the wielder primarily conceptualizes it as a 'weapon' or as 'defense'.

    Beast Glatisant
    - Howling Beast Of Hero's Bane (A, Anti-Unit): More commonly known as the 'Questing Beast'. A peculiar monster of Arthurian legend. Having never been seen clearly, its appearance and nature varies depending on the telling. But its most common depiction is that of a huge, phantasmagorical chimera with the head and neck of a serpent, the body of a leopard, a lion's haunches and a stag's feet. He and his family line have been devoted to hunting and capturing the illusive creature for decades, being continually thwarted at every turn. It is his obsession. His grudge. His passion. It would hardly be an exaggeration to call it 'the bane of Berserker's existence'.

Though one defined solely by animosity, Berserker's bond with his fabled beast are so great allow him to summon it forth as a Noble Phantasm. Once summoned, the beast will not heed Berserker's commands and merely wanders the landscape. It will only attack if provoked and otherwise ignores other Servants altogether.

On its own, this would make it a rather useless summon. However, the Questing Beast's true danger comes from an effect of its very existence. Anyone looking upon the creature will immediately become 'infatuated' and feel a nigh-irresistible drive to attack it, overriding whatever other wishes and desires they may have. Essentially, the target gains the same sort of madness as afflicting Berserker himself. The beast of course, will respond to these attacks by defending itself ferociously.

This 'infatuation' also comes with an insidious curse. Those affected are incapable of truly killing the Questing Beast, by its very nature as an ever-illusive monster that can never be captured by those who seek after it. Though itself only a mid-level Phantasmal Beast, it is this aspect that makes it a truly terrifying foe.

Those with Luck of A or higher can push back against fate to kill the beast anyways, while Skills granting resistance to mental interference can lessen or negate the initial infatuation. Said 'infatuation' works similarly to Medusa's eyes in that it lasts so long as the target perceives the Questing Beast or has an image of it in their mind's eye while the beast is in short proximity. Those who are blind and incapable of 'perceiving' the beast are thusly immune to its effects.

Though powerful, this Noble Phantasm applies equally to Berserker himself as to any enemies. Once it is summoned he will abandon any semblance of reason to attack the beast ceaselessly, not even recognizing anything or anyone else. Even Command Seals will only be able to hold back his fervor temporarily. Given Berserker's obsession with the Beast, it is likely a Command Seal will have to be wasted simply to prevent him from invoking this Noble Phantasm over and over again in the hopes of eventually besting it.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

AvengerEmiya's taking me to task for underestimating Pellinor finally inspired me to write up a sheet for him myself. Not quite sure how to feel about this guy. His NPs were incredibly complex to write (especially the Questing Beast one) and have so many limitations to them that I honestly doubt how much use the guy would be in a Grail War. Oh well.

As always, be sure to drop by with comments and criticisms!

Song Jiang: He seems like Iskander if he were a Caster with that Noble Phantasm of his. He kinda needs the whole Trusted Advisers skill to make him a viable Caster so nicely done there.

Liu Qizan: An Assassin with E- Presence Concealment? Interesting. "On a fundamental level, she fails as an Assassin-class Servant" was hilarious to see and the skills revolved around Martial Arts and Alcohol so that all flows well together. Eighteen Luóhàn is interesting as it's multiple Noble Phantasms in one and how it brings others to enlightenment and balanced with every hit being required. I like her, to put simply she's a fun version of Li Shuwen.

Sir Pellinore: Sword Breaker is interesting as although I'd say breaking Noble Phantasms of below A rank is a bit high but as he broke Caliburn and it was B rank that makes sense. Beast Glatisant is also interesting as it's not often that a Rider would try and kill their mount but then again, he's a Berserker... He has a very entertaining personality as a result.

I'll probably look into Arthurian servants more again after the next Grand Order event has ended.

    Class: Saber
    True Name: "The Black Knight"
    Alignment: Neutral Evil
    Place of Origin: N/A

Appearance: The Black Knight has no true identity or even form. Upon summoning, they will take the appearance of their master regardless of gender. The gender of their master is irrelevant despite the fact that The Black Knight is agender themselves as they are less of a person and more of a concept.

    Strength- A
    Endurance- A
    Agility - C
    Mana- A+
    Luck- -
    NP- A

    Height/Weight: Undefined
    Likes: Destroying Wishes
    Dislikes: Heroes, Themself
    Talent: Persistence
    Natural Enemy: "Prince Charming"

    Class Skills:
    • Magic Resistance (A) - Cancel spells of A-Rank or below. In practice, the Servant is untouchable to modern magi, so it would not be an exaggeration to title the Servant a "Magus Killer".
    • Riding (B) - Most vehicles can be handled with above average skill. However, cannot ride the likes of Phantasm Races such as Monstrous Beasts.

    Personal Skills:

    • Dissociation (A) - The servant has a weak grip on reality. Can block out mental influence on the same level. However this produces a lack of connection in a person's thoughts, memories, feelings, actions, or sense of identity.
    • Innocent Monster (EX) - An attribute possessed by Servants whose history and existence have been distorted by the monstrous reputations they accrued across the course of their life and thereafter. As a consequence, the Servant's abilities and appearance have been rendered to conform to the specifications of their legend. Incidentally, this personal skill cannot be removed.
    • Nature of a Rebellious Spirit (B) - The temperament to never remain at one location and never embrace a lord. A wandering star that does not have the capacity to be king nor is capable of finding his own king. Negates the effects of Charisma with the same rank.
    • Primordial Antagonist (A) - The status of one who opposes humanity - almost akin to that of an Ultimate One. By receiving back up from the planet, all one's specs aside from luck that are lower than the opposing enemy rise to match them.
    • Shapeshift (A+) - Refers to both borrowing bodies and appearance change. It seems like the master's look has been copied exactly.

    Noble Phantasm

Soul Devourer Grimdark Borealis (Anti-Unit/Anti-Hero) (B/A+) - A sword bestowed upon The Black Knight to help fulfil their role as a villain. It is a large and jagged sword formed from glowing dragon bone and bathed in enough blood and hatred by The Black Knight to turn it into a demonic weapon. A powerful, demonic sword existing as a foil to holy swords like Excalibur.

The sword will feed on The World around it, drinking in mana to maintain power. Having been summoned in the grail war with servants having high quality souls to power it, the blade becomes a terrifying weapon. Every blow landed with the blade will replenish The Black Knight's vitality, consuming the life of the target to restore their own. Should the heroic spirit The Black Knight is combating be weakened enough, their soul will literally be ripped out and consumed - taking the soul for themselves instead of returning it to the grail.

Even those only cut by the blade are not safe. Their vitality and mind will deteriorate slowly over time until they become a bloodthirsty and mindless monster

One could argue that it is not a true "Weapon" but rather as an extension of The Black Knight themselves.

    Lore

The Black Knight is a literary stock character.

An enigmatic foe, clad head to toe in armour black as night, which they are never seen without. Usually ridiculously powerful, they are feared by all who know of them. Wielding a sword, speaking in a low monotone or sinister growl - the identity is The Black Knight is never known, for there is no person underneath the shell. Sometimes they are not evil, sometimes they are merely a self proclaimed knight, sometimes they is the ultimate evil. Sometimes "he" is a woman. Sometimes they are just the hollow armour with no one behind it - which is true in a manner of speaking.

A being with no identity, this is a punished soul forced to reincarnate, fight, die and be eternally reborn as 'The Black Knight'. The shadow to the light of the hero. They must be the great evil as it is the only option available, the one to provide conflict for the hero to overcome. Someone has to play the villain, so be feared and hated by all. A hero cannot exist without the villain. Although they appear to embrace the role, The Black Knight despises their existence. They are fully aware that they are not a person, not even a fictional character, but a glorified plot device. The Black Knight is confused so to how their role reflect upon their personality as a result due to their continual dissociation on reality.

This is the wish of The Black Knight. To be free of the eternal struggle of the nameless antagonist and to have a true identity of their own.

    ----------------------------

So that was the third character from the currently unwritten fic. I designed them to be like Gawin as a "Final Boss Saber." Comments are nice.

Black Knight is certainly an interesting Servant. I like how you depicted his personality and that his wish is to break free of being a 'villain'. Adds a more human, even tragic side to a character that could've been just a mustache twirling villain. I could imagine in a fic that, after the hero deals the finishing blow on him, he'd lament before dying that he never really wanted to be a villain at all. *cue tearjerking music*

He seems like a very powerful, intimidating character that I could definitely see as a 'final boss'. Dissociation Skill adds some nice flavor, as well as Primordial Antagonist.

His NP is... well, first of all I got a kick out of 'grimdark' literally being in the name. Second, the first thing I thought about it (other then that) was 'This is literally Ragna's Drive from Blazblue'. With sapping the enemy's soul to restore his own life-force and all. Nothing wrong with taking inspiration from other sources, but I'm just wondering if you had that in mind. Having it made out of dragon-bone is also a nice touch, given symbolism of dragons as the 'ultimate evil' for heroes to face.

I wouldn't have made him 'Mr. faceless' like you did, but that's a matter of artistic preference. Given that Prince Charming in your account was a real guy at one point who just became the 'archetypal hero' later I assumed you'd be doing the same with the Black Knight. Really though, I just wanted to see him as a Bishonen.

Out of curiosity, you say that he's the villain of your unwritten fic but you already have a Saber in that fic (Prince Charming). How is that going to work out? Or would that be a spoiler?

As much I I like writing proper hat able villains, I thought I'd do a tragic one for a change.

Prince Charming lived a single life like every other hero but The Black Knight has died and come back in many different ways, with a unique form every time - kinda like the Hassan, they don't have a true face. If the master was a bishie like you said that is what The Black Knight would look like then again if they had a Middle Ages woman as their master that is what they'd look like. Gender isn't exactly applicable to The Black Knight, hence why I used neutral 'They' pronouns.

And yes, that two saber thing is kind of a spoiler. Should I ever write it.

    Servant Saber:

    True Name: Olivier de Vienne

    Alignment: Lawful Good

    Strength- B
    Agility- B
    Endurance- C
    Mana- D
    Luck- C
    NP- C+

    Appearance
    :

Personality: Clear-headed, sensible and valorous. He is Roland's most trusted friend and closest advisor, caring for Roland more then anything else in the world. Even if he is at many times frustrated by his friend's naivete and impulsiveness. While very reasonable, he can hold grudges in response to foolish behavior from others. This was shown when he refused to assist Roland in battle after the knight had arrogantly ordered Saber to let him claim all the glory for himself. However, when it came down to it, better thinking prevailed and Saber fought down his grudge to help his imperilled friend, though reconciliation came only later.

Personally, he regards the entire Roncevaux war as an unecessary and bloody endeavour born of religious zealotry. His wish on the Grail would be to go back and prevent that terrible war which claimed the lives of all his friends. In this way, he would clash with Roland who exalts the glories of war.

    Likes: Roland, critical thinking
Dislikes: Roland (it's complicated), excess passion
    Talent: 'sidekicking'
Natural Enemy: Roland (it's really complicated)

    Class Skills:

Magic Resistance (C)- Cancel spells with an incantation below two verses. Cannot cope with the likes of High Thaumaturgy or Greater Rituals.

Riding (C)- Ability to ride animals. At this rank, the Servant is capable of handling almost any mount and medium-sized vehicles (i.e. automobiles) with an average amount of skill.

    Personal Skills:

Eye Of The Mind (True) (B)- A heightened capacity for observation, refined through experience. Allows for calm analysis of battle situation and conclusion of action during a tight spot through "theory of battle". Contrary to the reckless courage of his friend Roland, Saber was said to exhibit poise and wisdom upon the battlefield.

Temperate Soul (A)- A reasoned spirit unclouded by excess passions. Negates mental interference such as pressure, confusion and certain fascination-type spells.

Battle Continuation (D)- Ability to come out alive, and continue fighting when injured. At this rank, Saber can ignore his injuries for short bursts of decisive action. After being mortally wounded in battle, Saber managed to inflict a deadly blow on his own opponent before dying.

    Noble Phantasm
    :

Hauteclaire- Sword Of The Counter-Attack (C+, Anti-Unit): Sword of Olivier. A slender blade of burnished steel, with a green crystal imbedded in an opulent golden hilt. The words "Heroism tempered with common sense is a far cry from madness; / Reasonableness is to be preferred to recklessness." are inscribed along the flat in French.

A mundane, albeit well-crafted blade with only one special anecdote. Upon being fatally impaled from behind by the Saracen warrior Margarice, Saber brought the enemy down with him by splitting his head apart with this sword just before dying.

As such, it is a Noble Phantasm with the property of 'counter-offense'. When Saber is struck by the opponent, he may invoke this Noble Phantasm to perform an instantaneous, blindingly fast counter-slash with Hauteclaire. Dodging is not a matter of agility, but on the opponent's Luck stat compared to Saber's own. However, just because the blow 'connects' does not mean it must be fatal or even severe. Sufficient reflexes from the enemy can render it no more then a grazing blow.

If Saber receives a fatal wound, he may unleash Hauteclaire's true potential. The gem in the hilt shatters, releasing a great amount of magical energy into the blade. The next counter-slash is insured to be a lethal blow upon the enemy who struck him, with only Luck of A+ or higher able to avert that fate.

Somebody was gonna do it eventually.

    ---SABER---
    - Masamune -
    Alignment: Lawful Good
    ====================
    Strength: D
    Endurance: D
    Agility: C
    Mana: B
    Luck: C
    Noble Phantasm: ???

    ====================
    Character details
Likes: Sipping sake in the spring
    Dislikes: Needless death
    Talents: Smithing, brewing sake, ...housechores?
    Natural Enemy: Muramasa

    Class Skills \
    ~ Magic Resistance: [D]
A Servant's ability to resist thaumaturgical effects. At D-rank, spells of two verses or lower are completely nullified.

    ~ Riding: [E]
Denotes a Servant's proficiency at riding various mounts and vehicles. Saber had never rode even a horse during his life. He may attempt to ride a horse or drive an automobile, but he is forced to learn basics just like everyone else.

    Personal Skills \

~ Master of the Forge: [A+++]
A skill reserved for those knew the heat of the forge during their lifetime. Saber not only knew the forge, he mastered it. A smith whose legacy remained unsurmounted in Japan even to this day, he pioneered a method of swordsmithing that both his students and those that succeeded them mimicked for centuries. It imbued all of his swords with a magnificent, heavenly gleam. Saber may be the only swordsmith in the world to produce man made works worthy to be called "Holy Swords."

But still, it goes even further than that. There is a unique aspect to the creation Japanese swords which no other culture's smithery mirrors - the hamon. It is the blade pattern formed during the hardening aspect, resulting in a harder cutting edge. Though or Saber, it means something more. His hamon was unique in both appearance and application. A method of enchanting that shares more in common with conceptual magecraft, the hamon of Saber's blades bequests them unique abilities ranging from mundane (cuts deeper than usual) to miraculous (mend the wounds of whatever it cuts).

    ~ Projection Magecraft: [A]
A Skill that stems from Saber's vessel rather than himself. It is a method of magecraft called "Gradient Air," but more specialized. It seems that the boy Saber has possessed has a unique attribute to him. One that makes his existence closer to that of a sword's. In a sense this makes his body the perfect forge. The skill gives Saber the ability to project whatever arms he chooses. Though, the resulting projection is always a hollow replica. As a means to accommodate this, Saber has managed to reconfigured the skill to better fit his skillset.

By planting a sword in the ground, Saber can create a pool of leylines upon the surface. Instead of the magic circuits of the boy he is possessing, the leylines are what is used to project weapons. Though calling them projections at this point would be an insult to their craftsmanship. Save for the blades Saber forged when he was alive, they are all fully realized originals far stronger and sturdier than anything the boy would create ordinarily. Also, this skill is limited only to whatever surface Saber's blade is planted in. For example: If Saber throws a tanto, wherever that tanto plants itself in can be turned into a forge: wall, ceiling, tree, etc.

Take note that Saber can only manage one set of leylines at a time.

~ Wisdom Underneath the Autumn Leaves: [B]
Saber was called "master" by many. He had several students who all later became masters in their own right, including an especially troublesome disciple who challenged him to a contest of craftsmanship. Of course, the infamous prodigee was bested, but Saber still respected his skill nonetheless, as it was comparable to his own. It is this acknowledgement and peer-like relationship between student and master that made Saber such a successful mentor.

If confronted with a fellow blacksmith who Saber sees potential in, he can, in a quick session, mentor them and amass their latent potential. Though, unless the student is human, the experience they gain from Saber vanishes once he or they returns to the Throne of Heroes.

    Noble Phantasm
    Noble Phantasms \
Heavenly Bladeworks -Magnificent Ocean of Swords-
    [???] ??? (Range/Target: ???)
The Reality Marble of Shirou Emiya influenced by the legendary Japanese blacksmith Masamune. Inside of what was previously a wasteland of swords now exists an infinite ocean of pure waters, the surface of which glisten like crystals. Every sword not only forged but hypothesized by Masamune blooms from the waters as he approaches it.

The most reputed of these include:

Yawarakai-Te: It's name meaning "Tender Hands," it is the blade Masamune used in the famous river contest with his ambitious apprentice and rival Muramasa. It's hamon allows it to "restore" whatever it cuts, regardless of whether the damage was originally dealt by it. This effect cannot be used on Masamune himself.

Fudo Masamune: A blade blessed by the god it was dedicated to during its forging. Originally a tanto, it has been reforged into a massive sword with an extremely wide and curved blade, capable of chopping an automobile in half just by bringing it down. When its name is called, the blade will become engulfed with the Karura Flame, infusing it with the power to do enormous damage to beings with Divine properties. It has a dragon engraved on its blade.

Kotegiri Masamune: The "kote cutter" which Ushikage Asakura used to cut another samurai's yugote. Thanks to Nobunaga, the sword's length is significantly shorter than it originally was, thus Masamune forges both the original and shorter version and dual wields both at the same time. The swords were forged with a hamon that gives them a skill similar to [Protection Against Arrows], giving Masamune the ability to skillfully deflect and avoid most projectiles while wielding them.

Tarōsaku Masamune: A katana with a wider than average blade, and which stands taller than Masamune himself. While he can reforge almost any of his swords, Tarōsaku is the only sword which can be altered after already being forged. Specifically, it can extend the edge of its already lengthy blade up to nearly thirty meters. Its maximum length increases drastically inside Heavenly Bladeworks.

Nakatsukasa Masamune: A "ghost blade" that consumes magic. It can eat an impressive amount of spells up to B-rank in strength with relative ease, though its blade begins to crack after extended use. If hit by an A-rank spell it will shatter immediately, but inside of Heavenly Blade Works even A-rank spells can be consumed.

Honjo Masamune: Masamune's greatest work. It is by far his most famous sword, regarded as one of the most magnificent blades in Japan's history, though it is currently lost it. Out of all his works, it is the only blade Masamune himself considers worthy of the title "Holy Sword." Fittingly, it is also the only blade that cannot be forged outside of Heavenly Bladeworks. "Cutting" is this ability this blade's hamon has given it. Endurance does not matter. Armor does not matter. Skills, Noble Phantasms or any conceptual effect preventing something or someone from being cut does not matter. Unless the object in question is a Divine Construct, when Honjo Masamune cuts it, it will be severed as easily as a spring cherry blossom.

    Lore
Saber's true name is Gorō Nyūdō Masamune, Japan's greatest blacksmith.

Not much is known about Masamune's life, including when or where exactly he was born. Though the fact that Muramasa Sengo was his student would suggest that he somehow lived much longer than normal. Regardless, his technique certainly stands the test of time. Masamune's swords were magnificent works of arts that belonged in a museum just as much as on a battlefield. His blades were peerless. Superior to all, and beyond comparison to any works done by his peers. However, magnificent a blacksmith he may be, he was still just that - a blacksmith. Masamune was no warrior. As Caster, he would be an extremely useful Servant, capable of forging dozens of high quality Noble Phantasms in his workshop, but as a Saber, he would honestly be quite useless.

    That is, under ordinary circumstances.

Due to complications with his summoning, Masamune became a pseudo-Servant, with his soul manifesting inside of a magus named Shirou Emiya. In Masamune's opinion, no workshop he could have created as a Caster would compare to the forge he was given in the shape of this young magus. The wasteland of swords inside of Shirou was flooded with pure waters, and now, even as a Saber with underwhelming physical capabilities, Masamune can go toe-to-toe with titans that would otherwise be beyond him. The legendary blacksmith and the boy who's soul knows nothing but swords are just too compatible with each other.

Masamune will never again be as perfect as he is right now.

Olivier: It's nice to see Roland's Bash-Bro here, I've considered doing a sheet for him but it's nice to see yours. I see a lot of mirroring between the sheet as well which was a delight. Roland's talent is Theatrical Herosim while Olivier is "Sidekick" and their differing views on critical thinking - I got a big kick out of that. They bounce off each other really well and

As for tweaks, you mentioned that he refused to help him in battle at one point so I feel Temperate Soul should be at B rank. Though honestly I think you could buff him a bit more. You could give a rank up to either Agility or Endurance. Possibly both. Same with Magic Resistance and Riding I wasn't sure what to put Hauteclaire as myself when i was at the drawingboard phase so to speak but as counterattack, it works although I think it should be B rank myself as it functions similarly to the Gae Bolg (or B- if you're feeling harsh).

As I've made Roland Alter, what do you think the interactions between the two would be, possibly even what would happen in a fight?

I really need to do more Matter of France servants...

Masamune: Blacksmith hero + Buff!Shirou faceclaim + house chores = ??? On a serious note, he works great as a pseudo servant and Shirou is by far the best vessel. I can very easily see him showing up in Grand Order somehow as we have a pseudo Shielder and Caster already. You've put a lot of thought into every sword and the twist on Bladework name is great. Nice job

    - - - Updated - - -

On an unrelated note, i found a fault in the OP with two of my servants.

Elizabeth Tudor is listed as a Saber instead of Assassin and William Wallace was made as a Berserker instead of Saber (although I said in the sheet he qualified for both clases)

Oh, hey, Fuuma Kotarou is in FGO. And his NP is a big fiery inferno thing.

    ...

    CALLED IT.

Too bad I never managed to finish his illustration outside of a rough pencil sketch. Ah well, FGO wins this one.

An interesting (or soul crushing thing to do) is to look back on sheet where characters appeared in GO and see how accurate they are to canon.

The more accurate i've seen is your Kotaro and You's Saint Martha.

The least (by far) was my Xuanzang (wrong gender, class, NP AND skills)
