Honestly, I hope at the end of this we get the full reveal of every servant profile without crossed out or blurred sections and including profiles for servants who didn't get any like Alter Ego Gil or hypothetical true lancer (which at this point is 100% happening right?). I'm still surprised Narita didn't give us one for him at the end of this, but maybe he is saving that for next volume?

Also in regard to Alcides, correct me if i'm wrong, but I thought Nasu wrote for Alcides since he is also the writer for Herc too, isn't he?

I still haven't gotten to Vamp or Etsusa Bridge, and I'm not caught up on Baccano. But I made sure to at least hit as many of his miscellaneous works outside of the Naritaverse like Stealth Symphony and DMDP though. But anyways, I'm interested to hear what thoughts you have on it when you read it, because it wrapped up really well for an axed manga imo, and I find the character of Jig Kumonuma to be deeply fascinating, especially with what Narita pulled with him.

Was unfortunate knowing it got axed reading all the plans Narita had for the future. Guess WSJ just isn't the place for the Narita style, especially with the level of stress authors deal with over there.
Finally I found someone with the same goal as me, but seriously it's hard work, so far I've read all of Baccano, DRRR, Etsusa Bridge, Vamp, Hariyama-san, DMDP (chapters behind, with the spin off not yet read), FSF (which included tons of Fate along the line), Toaru Fanfare (with like 50+ volumes of Toaru in the meantime), ToaruxDRRR, Kuramerukagari, Kuroha to Nijisuke. Currently reading Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens for the crossover they had with DRRR and working with someone to translate Pandora Shark. After this it's all of Stealth Symphony and Bleach for CFYOW, along with that half translate Wednesday Smiling one shot. And finally if I can manage it, find that live action Narita had and try to watch it if I can.

It's been a couple years since then and still while I do actively read some other stuff to prevent burnout, the point still stands that Narita has not made me seriously burnt out yet, I guess the man just had the charm to him so kudos for him and all these great works he made, he's my fav author and I don't think anyone can top him. He should do things at his own pace though so if SS got axed because of it then ig it's better for him in the long run

I can agree with you on that point too!

But yeah, I only started working towards reading every Narita work like 2 years ago? I can't say you haven't intimidated me, but I still plan to keep at it. If anything, I'm glad you gave me the lowdown because now I actually have a full list to check off. So far I've done DMDP, still working on the spinoff, DRRR, started Baccano but only got a bit past where the anime ended (so not far really), FSF, SS, and CFYOW (although, I still have to read SAFWY). Did not know Narita did Toaru stuff though. I literally told a friend who's been urging me to get into it it sounds similar to Narita's kind of stuff, so I'd consider it, little did I know...

Also really cool to know you're working towards getting Pandora Shark translated. That's a Narita work I've been morbidly curious about for a while now (perhaps his shark obsession is rubbing off on me, who knows) and great to hear about the work being done on that.

Toaru is actually the thing that got me into Narita btw (he's an absolute fucking fan). I gotta admit though the first part of Toaru kinda works very Narita like, as in it follows a set protag with new casts adding in, but at the later part of the first part re I'd argue some volumes later down the line set itself up JUST like a Narita volume, but recently he's been doing less and less Narita like stuff which is why I'm not that motivated to read his recent volumes. But I assure you Toaru is very good as a whole and it's worth reading.

Yea but progress will be slow though as it's just a free work done by random guys (edit: Just realized the illustrator for Pandora Shark designed a few FGO characters like Cu Alter and Asterios damn)

Dude is trying his best and he clearly still remembered it enough to have a manga adaptation of it last Christmas, trust the Narita plan

I dunno, I think it's more likely that Nasu wrote down the basic drafts for Alcides's character traits, motivations etc. MAYBE some of his powers, but left the story and details mostly upto Narita.

A thing to consider there is that iirc in one of the afterwords to SF, Narita asks Nasu whether Alcides would ever hurt a child considering the kind of person Herc was, but Nasu assured her that his hatred for the gods and vengeance against them entailed that he let go of such morals. So it sounds like he definitely had the final say on Alc's character, and might have suggested some plot beats to at least make the crux of his personality clear to the readers.

I'm just saying that the "wow x author ruined this character nasu would never" scenario has happened many times now and more often than not it turns out the bad ideas were nasu's all along

My project to read every Narita title was very short-lived as Pandora Shark volume 1 didn't get me interested enough to continue that series.

It's extremely funny because it's absolutely true.

Agreed, idk how Pandora Shark is besides it’s just Narita projecting his love for sharks in an entire series, but Narita’s most commonly regarded works are Baccano and DRRR, the former being a personal fav of mine

Not even an appearance, being an invisible man (was funny reading how he got the idea of him from Gintama because of the whole "you should identify a main character by their silhouette" and Narita's idea was "Okay, what if he didn't have a silhouette!"). So, his powers reflect what he spends his life trying to do, filling himself up with other people to make him "someone." For a 20 chapter long axed Shonen Jump manga, Narita was able to cramp some real good stuff into it. But I bring this up just because, while I don't have issues with how they do it, Alcides and Tokinada I don't think have as strong as a character connection to their copy abilities as Troma does.
I have to give Stealth Symphony a read at some point. I want to get into more of Narita's original works since the only stuff he's written that I've read are Fate/stange Fake, Bleach: Beginning of the Revive of Tomorrow, and Bleach: Can't Fear Your Own World; oh, and I only watched about half of the first season of Durarara!!'s anime.
You are not immune to propoganda, probably.

I do highly recommend it. I find it interesting just because it feels like a beta concept for Dead Mount Death Play, but also probably the best written axed manga I've read and the one that ended the best. Also it pulls the equivalent of the punk guy at the beginning of SF who helped Ayaka killing Faldeus somehow in the finale which I find absurdly funny. Very quick read too, being only 20 or so chapters. I just ran through it one Saturday earlier this year and it was quite fun. Lot of the twists really got me too.

I think the biggest difference between Naritaverse and Nasuverse is that, in the former you can have "silly things played seriously" while in the latter, what happens is that "serious things are turned silly".

Oh very much agreed here. Narita has a character whose silly goal is to make everyone in the world smile and he’s the most serious character in the series. Whereas for Nasu, the case study would be from FSN to FGO
